Not automatically, only if, I think, Stevenage and Luton lose. I'd hope it would not lead to nasty scenes, especially as it is likely you are coming up with us.

For selfish reasons I hope we win but do not get automatic on Friday, as I am going on Monday when Newport visit.

Ah ok, so unlikely. I'd also hope it wouldn't lead to any scenes, but after last season I think any ott celebration/gloating wouldn't get a good response from some Pompey fans. Regardless though, I can't wait for the game!

There is also the fact that we won't know the results of the other games until half and hour after ours, assuming we win. This is likely to dissipate any obvious flashpoints.

Four for the play offs is turning into a "who can be shitter than who?" contest.

Bookies see Blackpool easing in ahead of Carlisle, with U's just behind. I tend to agree that Blackpool are our main threat - apart from ourselves, especially our capabilities at home. For U's to still be in with a chance on the last day, we'd need the other CUFCs to remain shit and to scupper Exeter's chances on Easter Monday. I don't see that happening but we can live in hope and a result of any sort at Grimsby, next up, should fill the Abbey home stands at least. I think remaining matches are:

CUFC (Cambridge): Grimsby, EXETER, Pompey, CRAWLEY, Wycombe.

CUFC (Colchester): DONCASTER, Morecambe, PLYMOUTH, Orient, YEOVIL

Wycombe: MANSFIELD, Barnet, DONCASTER, Morecambe, CAMBRIDGE

Blackpool: ACCRINGTON, Doncaster, CHELTENHAM, Notts County, ORIENT

Exeter: BARNET, Cambridge, MORECAMBE, Doncaster, CARLISLE

CUFC (Carlisle): Hartlepool, STEVENAGE, Crawley, NEWPORT, Exeter

Accy Stanley:
Blackpool, CRAWLEY, Newport, LUTON, Stevenage

Mansfield: Wycombe, LUTON, Stevenage, POMPEY, Crawley

I suddenly want Donny to win all their remaining games.

We don't belong here.............. but then neither do the rest of the contenders.

Anyway, I'll be north of the Arctic Circle in play-off week.

Looking at those fixtures, I reckon it'll be Exeter and Colchester who grab the last two spots.

Our run-in really isn't bad, if we weren't on such a terrible run of form I'd be confident.

Out of anyone below Portsmouth, I fancy Colchester out of all of them.

Accrington done very well to get up there considering where they've been for most of the season. Odd that they could now quite feasibly finish above Carlisle.

I tend to agree. CUFC :hypo: or Blackpool, IF they can get into the play offs, they'll be on a roll. Two tough away (edit HOME) matches for Colchester (assuming Donny moderate their celebrations) and a finish at (edit HOME to) Yeovil, who may need a point, means they'll deserve it if they can get to 73 points or more. I'm sure we'll struggle to get to 70.

Edit: Now I note that CAPS means home not away, CUFC look even stronger for the last place.

To clarify, all yellow cards are wiped after the regular season? I.e. if Danny Hylton was on 14 bookings after game 46, he wouldn't serve a suspension if he got a yellow in the play off games?

I believe the fact we are now promoted will allow us to relax and win the required games for the title. Good luck to those chasing but I've a soft spot for Accy

Our away form is pathetic, but our two remaining away trips are at Morecambe and Orient whose home records are worse. Doncaster are up and Plymouth should be up by the time we play them at home, so I'm hoping that could work in our favour as it did when we beat Brentford 4-1 a couple of seasons back after they'd secured promotion (clutching at straws maybe, could go either way haha). Yeovil at home on the last day should be a nice enough fixture if we still have something to play for.

Can't believe we're still in with a shout to be honest. If we could sort out our away form and beat Morecambe, Orient and Yeovil, then even just a point from either Doncaster or Plymouth could see us over the line. At least we've kept it interesting.

I doubt that 10 points will be enough for either of us, especially with Blackpool and Exeter's goal difference.

We need the points for the title now so I'm hoping that the team can relax a little having secured promotion and play in the way they are capable until the title is won

With those fixtures I expect us to finish behind at least Col U, Blackpool and Exeter.

Who knows though; there is less pressure on us than those currently occupying the top 7 places and you get a few weird results near the end of the season.

I think we'll probably need at least 4 wins to stand a chance though. Luckily we're a very streaky team - here's hoping for an 8 game winning streak starting at Grimsby...

Winning a title is TOO easy, what you want is to experience the thrills of a the play off finals with all the razzmatazz and hype that precedes it,filling you up with pride, hope, expectations of life in another world and a feeling of glorious impending victory.......
And then getting that custard pie full in the face after a debacle of a humiliating defeat that kicks you right in the goolies.......
Sorry about that..... good luck

I'm not so sure now - I've been thinking you'd need about 72/73 but, looking at the fixtures, I wouldn't be too surprised if 70 took the final spot... it would be very tight, either way!

If we get in, it'll either be on goal difference or by 1 point - it'll be "skin of the teeth".

I don't want to be in the play offs as we will show the horrible football we play to a wider audience which i can't defend. Ainsworth out or we'll become as shit as Stevenage under Westley. I'm begging any other team to put in a bid for the anti football clown Ainsworth who has no right to manage a team in the Football League making our players cheat which never helps us as his team selections are a joke. 4 years ago he had a 5 year plan for promotion to league 1 but i have more chance of winning the lottery than our dickhead manager winning promotion, and this **** said 2 months ago this was the best squad he's had as our manager,f*ck off!:mad:

If it wasn't for Ainsworth you would be a non-league team AGAIN which would be hilarious for me but bad for you, so be thankful for that and the reason you are not good enough anymore is because this is a much stronger league than 2 years ago as we Carlisle are up there and we done the double over you. Sorry you "auld mutt" but if you don't like it then go off and be a plastic Premier League fan.

It was Ainsworth that was so close to getting us relegated to The Conference e3 seasons ago when we stayed up on the last day on goal difference of 2. As for The Premier League i hate it and don't even watch MOTD. No matter where Wycombe play i will stay loyal to a club i have supported all my life, i want to see us improve but it won't happen under the current regime and as somdeone who spends money to be a member of the trust that own our club i feel i have a right to air my views.

So 4 games to go...

4th Luton Town 67pts +21
5th Exeter City 65pts +17
6th Stevenage 65pts +8
7th Carlisle United 63pts -1 (yes that is negative GD at this stage of the season in the play offs!)
--------------------------------
8th Blackpool 61pts +18
9th Colchester United 61pts +6
10th Mansfield Town 61pts +4
11th Cambridge United 60pts +7
12th Accrington Stanley 59pts +3
13th Wycombe Wanderers 59pts +1
14th Grimsby Town 58pts -3

Anyone on this list can feasibly get into that top 7. Even Grim.

Pompey will be promoted if they beat Notts County and Luton fail to win at Mansfield.

But we'll lose...

Could get a bit interesting on Monday with Luton fans having to connect trains in Nottingham, before heading to Mansfield, with Portsmouth already in town!

Actually I don't think even winning every game will quite do it for us - poor goal difference caused by those 4 and 5 goal beatings against quality sides like Crewe. I invite others to try the Promotion Calculator on the Fishy...

http://thefishy.co.uk/calculator2.php

Of course for our last season at this level, and a few before that, it was a relegation calculator...

How does the fixture computer come up with these scenarios!

Bit of a weird one with the 2 home games, Luton still aren't really liked by the home fans whereas Portsmouth will be given a warm welcome, always been quality when they've been here.

We will be promoted on Monday if we beat or draw against Newport. OR if Luton lose and we lose. But that'd be a huge anticlimax.
