^ was the schools plan anything much to do with Osborne?

Lynton Crosby has been knighted btw, for services to politics. So that seems completely reasonable, hours after his deeply racist campaign has been mercifully rejected by Londoners.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
He announced it during the budget, so presumably knew as much about it as anyone.

But telling Gideon to fuck off doesn't need a reason.

From the Daily Mirror

The Prime Minister’s official Twitter and Facebook accounts have fallen silent.

Mr Cameron has neither paid tribute to the hard work of his party’s losing candidate, nor offered congratulations to the man who runs the capital city of the country he leads.

He has said nothing about the historic election of the first Muslim mayor of a Western capital city, with the largest personal mandate of any UK politician in history.

And he has yet to pledge co-operation across party lines with the new Mayor, who will take over from his school-chum Boris on Monday.

David Cameron has gone quiet.

Yes, everyone should work for free, you increasingly stupid fucking idiot.
Where did i say they should cock breath? No actor/presenter/chat show host or newsreader should be earning over a million quid which we have to pay for. Chris Evans and Graham Norton spring to mind. Please carry on the abuse as i can give it as well as take it.

Out of interest, how much do you think they should be allowed to be paid? Do you care if this is far less than they would get at ITV or Channel 4? Who should get to decide the wages etc?

To be honest i don't know but i do know they should not be paid millions as part of a "Golden handshake" as The BBC like to call it meaning they can't work for another channel. Channel 4 can go as far as i am concerned as there is rarely anything on there i watch just like BBC3 before it was moved online but i do enjoy BBC4.

if they're spending millions on wages that's because they did a cost/benefit analysis and deemed it a good investment

And in the paper yesterday it said there are only 6 bbc employees on over £500k. It's not a common thing to be paid huge huge amounts.

David Cameron has described Nigeria and Afghanistan as "fantastically corrupt" in a conversation with the Queen.

The PM was talking about the forthcoming anti-corruption summit when he made the comments.

It was not clear whether he knew the comments were being recorded.

"We've got the leaders of some fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain... Nigeria and Afghanistan, possibly the two most corrupt countries in the world," Mr Cameron said.

In an arena full of cringey and outdated tradition this is one I do like. Dennis with his usual quip to Blackrod.

He's tweeting that the shit is going to hit the fan today. It'll be interesting to see how deep this is or if it's a storm in a teacup.

Hoping that it's bad enough for another GE (we can hope I suppose).

I've helped with expenses on a General Election campaign and the literature is quite stark.

Stuff like

IF YOU FILL THIS FORM IN INCORRECTLY YOU WILL GO TO JAIL

things like that.

I was doing it for the Green Party so we claimed little to no expenditure to declare. I have absolutely no idea how the Tories with the electoral machine they have managed to do it wrong. I can't see how it would have been accidental. They're the oldest political party in the land, they know how to fill in these forms.

Interesting stuff. It'll be interesting to see how the media deal with this if it does break. They should get crucified but I doubt they will.

It better be bloody good after all the build up from Eoin on this. A 100 resignations and 35 prosecutions will do me for now.

Yeah, I've been following his tweets for a while, he's confident something will happen. Strap yourselves in...

...for a massively underwhelming story no doubt.

There's also an investigation into Labour's Cat Smith, some irregularities with the battle bus expenses and some suggestions of other Labour MPs to be investigated so I wouldn't get too excited.

All it would take is a couple of Labour MPs to be involved as well and people would just see it as more of the same from untrustworthy politicians and any advantage would be lost.

I think there are three possible reasons why Labour haven't gone with this yet. They're dirty too (I think most likely), there is no substance in these investigations or Corbyn really is incompetent (and as much as I think this is usually the case I don't think it's likely here).

It's a police investigation, can they do anything? Genuine question, I have no idea.

As much as I'd love this to be a Tory only problem, if it isn't I hope everything is opened up and looked at so we can have faith in politicians again. A long shot, I know.

It could also be they have made a decision not to comment officially until the investigations have been completed. It's one thing for Labour bloggers to publicise these investigations. Another thing entirely for the Labour Party to do so. There are also legal considerations which is one of the reasons the mainstream press hasn't gone "big" on this yet. It certainly wouldn't be appropriate for Corbyn to comment on ongoing criminal investigations.

Edit- C+B beat me to it :smug:

I think there are ways that you can make the public aware of it without actually making comments that would effect the police investigation which Labour haven't done.

I think it would be good to be able to clean house, change the system and have a more open and clean politics but like C&B I think that is wishful thinking and even if it was done I still think it would take a lot to change the public's perception.
