Wouldn't surprise me to see Buttler be called up for the second test series of the summer. If they could have foreseen the Taylor situation I doubt they would have told him to concentrate on limited overs cricket.

I'm glad they haven't gone backwards and gone for Bell or Balance, also good to see the Woakes test match experiment appears to be over.

Vince certainly deserves his chance.

That is a very long batting line-up, Stokes needs to be in at 6 particularly as Bairstow goes in as WK rather than just a batsman.

Still unconvinced by Hales and Compton, I don't think they should be dropped but they are the two positions I think that could still be up for grabs so they'll need to have a good series.

Hales deserves a longer run, but Compton won't make it short or long term at test level and I'd sooner someone else get a go immediately in his position. Especially considering I'm expecting a relatively easy test year until we head to India in the winter. I'd expect us to win 5/6 of the 7 tests against Sri Lanka/Pakistan, with 1 game thrown due to weather and another drawn when we can't bowl them out on the final day.

Then Bangladesh? Now is the chance.

Compton is a decent short term option, he adds stability to an attaching order. Hales is an early wicket eight times out of ten, so Compton coming in after him steadies things.

I Hope we give Vince a fair crack of the whip, he's a tidy little player and the only real candidate to replace Taylor. Hopefully Bairstow continues his ridiculous form, forever!

We should win this series at a canter, weather permitting. 2-0.

Yes. The England chat for him has been around long before that Yorkshire game, he was great for the Lions out in the UAE and was out in South Africa too. 24 and started the season on fire. Seems quite a lot of chance for him to get noticed there.

Looks like I made a good choice being out in the morning, hopefully Hales and Vince can both get good scores though. I feel long term Vince (if he does well enough) will be moved up to 3 and Compton given the boot for England to find someone else to bat 5, maybe Bairstow up to 5 and Buttler/Stokes after him.
