I know it probably says more about the quality of the pitches and attacks in the Ranji trophy than anything else, but it's kind of amazing that Ravi Jadeja has 3 first class triple centuries but hasn't gone past 90 in more than 20 test matches.

If Root opens I wouldn't be against Borthwick coming in. I do still think 4 spinners is excessive though, especially when it's 4 average spinners and Root can already add to the averageness to make it 5 ffs.

Root will probably end up opening and scoring a ton. He really is so good idea say 75% of the time it's his fault he gets out not normally down to good bowling. If he could turn his 50s into tons more regularly he'd overtake Tendulkar eventually.
