No real seam threat to back up Anderson and Broad.

Plunkett? Why?

Where's Jordan?

Don't mind Plunkett, thought he did well in the English summer after a slow start. Took wickets anyway. Bowled quite quick. I like him.

Was baffled as to why he was brought back in after 8 years out, but yes he wasn't too bad - more of a threat than Woakes.

Trott over Taylor is a real stinger I reckon, he's 33 how long will he be around the squad? Taylor should have been given the chance.

I reckon

Cook
Lyth
Trott - No point picking him if you're not playing him
Bell
Ballance
Root
Buttler
Rashid
Broad
Plunkett
Anderson

Would of had Taylor over trott definitely. Happy enough with rashid, and lyth being added though. Also I'd rather Finn there than Broad tbh on current form.

Out in the West Indies I'd have thought Finn would have been a certainty, pace and bounce galore for him and some for Broad then Anderson with the control.

England captain Alastair Cook has criticised the selectors for dropping him as one-day captain in the build-up to the World Cup.

Cook says England's dismal performance at the tournament proved the decision to get rid of him was wrong.

LOL :10:

Is that a genuine quote?! That's probably the only thing the selectors have done right, i hope cook never plays in a ODI again.

No Taylor, Hales or Finn is a bit of a joke IMO.
The only joke about Finn is that he was recalled to the one day team in the first place.
How anyone can want him anywhere near the test team, after his performances in an England shirt in the last 18 months god only knows. Hales is one to watch but quite rightly left out. Whereas Taylor can feel hard done by but it's understandable with the 3,4 and 5 positions boxed off and an all rounder in Stokes rightly being given a go at 6 by the looks of it.

That's gotta be a Twitter quote, Cook's too much of a pussy to say that.

Anyway, as said above, dropping Cook was the only right decision that the ECB made, they just went in a big circle and replaced him with Bell.

He's played 5 tests! Give the guy a chance!

I understand that, but he looked poor most of the time, needs technical work on his action before he should be playing. We can what we please about players, but the fact is, test starting XI standard of players need to be as close to the finished article as possible, not showing obvious technical faults. Bairstow comes to mind, always bowled, can't play the short ball. Binned, correctly. Not saying Jordan is the same, BUT - if he has obvious flaws still, they need repairing as you can't really 'bowl' them out of your system.

Probably a prime of example of England's bowling scene at the moment, he's been poor but I'd rather he than most at the moment still.

Take your quote for Jordan and apply it to Finn who is also mentally weak as piss. Jordan is a decent improving bowler with a good mentality who can also hold a bat. He fully deserves his place in the touring part based on what he has done in an England shirt so far.

Bell was just following orders it is very harsh to blame him.

My ol man just bare woke up to watch India vs Bangladesh. I haven't followed cricket myself in a few years, he was raving on about how we beat England. How the hell did that happen.

Edit: Since I'm up and buzzin, thought might as well watch the game. Bangladesh are bowling very well actually.

A couple very bad decisions from the umpire going against Bangladesh, while India up the run rate in the last 10 overs.

Bare woke up? wtf?

I saw a few of the middle overs and Bangladesh were bowling very nicely. I didn't see the England game but sounds like they played similarly then. Rohit never really looked like getting out though and they were only 3 wickets down after 30 overs, so it looked like India might start to get away from them a little.

There's no way they could justify picking Hales in a test squad at the moment. Tredwell being called up is an absolute joke, but it's good to see Trott back.

Why is Tredders being called up a joke? He has just been to the World Cup, and didn't do his reputation any harm :bravo:(by not playing), and Ali is injured. Having said that I expect Rashid will get the nod being from Yorkshire (I think)

He is a reasonable one day bowler but his first class record over the last few years is dismal. He averaged is 56.7 in the second division of the county championship the year before last and ended up playing in the second team at Kent. Kent! Kerrigan's confidence has taken a pretty significant knock so I understand why they haven't picked him, but I'd rather see the first choice spin bowler at pretty much any of the other counties get a call up than Tredwell.

Our spinning options are very limited at the moment. The ecb could do worse than trying to poach George dockrell from Ireland though.

I signed the petition too. Bangladesh are proof that if you perservere with associate nations and let them play against top teams over a long period of years that they can improve and become more competitive. The idiots sat behind their desk at the ICC need to have a look at themselves.
