Good job we have that extra batter - need them to get a big score or it’s very much advantage India.

What's happened to Bumrah. He's India's best fast bowler?

Terribly unlucky for Pope, but he could have been run out too.

Missing for personal reasons.

Not really an ideal batting performance.

And will be relying on Anderson and the spinners to get us back into the game.

To be honest it looks a stronger X1 than the last match. But until we find a way to play Axel and Ashwin we look distinctly second best. Lets just hope we can battle and keep the margin of defeat down.

That referral when Pant was out lbw was crucial. That rule that half the ball must be hitting is bollox. If he'd have been given out I felt England would have a lead. As it is I can see India having a lead of 50+now.

2 sessions were excellent but Pant killed us after tea counter attacking taking advantage of some tired bowing.

Oh dear - will we make it to 100?

I presume we have looked totally bamboozled by the spin again.

Did anyone notice that Wood's first over yesterday was a maiden.

Must be quite a rarity in International T20.

India will get 300 plus and we might have a problem or two as Morgan and Billings are both off the field injured so will they bat ?

England were doing all right but they can't score since Roy and Stokes went.

What a pathetic effort after Bairstow and Roy took them to 135-0.

They were like rabbits in headlights from then on.

Were they doped.

Completely outdone in all three formats of the game. Well done India.

England should have won that 3 overs out, but India limited them to only one boundary in those 18 balls.

Also well done Sam Curran.

Yes - we got close but not quite enough.

Seems its get runs up the top or bust.

Interesting challenge this series against a very good NZ team. England’s squad looks a little bit makeshift for various reasons so wouldn’t surprise me if we struggle at the start of this summer.

Got tickets for the test event at Edgbaston for the second Test match where think there’s 18000 allowed each day so hopefully that goes well.

No spinner for England. I really hate when they do this. If weather stays like this I think this will prove to be a huge mistake come the second innings.

Completely agree. Joe Root only seems effective in certain conditions.

Oh dear - we might as well start with 2 down .
Been out canal walking in Shropshire and saw 25/2 on my phone and never looked again. Just got home and see the debutant made 200 and Root and Burns are holding things together.

Think England can take a lot from the fact the score NZ got although formidable at no real point did they allow them to get away from them so it’s a manageable total.

In terms of the batting Root is the key as ever. If NZ get him early tomorrow it would not surprise me if England collapsed.

Did notice even a limited spinner like Santner was getting some purchase out of the pitch. Exactly why I would never go into a test match without a frontline spinner.

Well that's going well. Absolute shambles of a batting display. The selectors need to look at themselves. They need replacing. As soon as I saw that team selection I feared the worst. We could be following on here.
