Fantastic from Brook and Livingstone particularly.

Good couple of wickets too .

Yeah I was a little concerned Bethell was eating up too many deliveries at the end but then rightly Livingstone just took control of all the strike.

Looks like the seamers are bowling a really nice line and length at present. Big boost to remove all the top order.

Well I didn't expect them based on the first 2 games looked like it was going be a 4 or 5 nil loss. Some of the batters have batted abit more sensibly especially brook which has helped. Potts getting 4 wickets aswell feel he was harshly dropped for the last test match against Sri Lanka so glad he has picked up plenty of wickets.

Wow that's some capitulation by the Aussies. They won the toss too. Perhaps they hadn't realised that no team batting second in an ODI at Lords had won since South Africa in 2017. Very big winning margin too.

England 202-3 at 26 overs. Brutal hitting from Brook and Duckett. Shame Brook didn’t get his hundred this time but England set for a mammoth total now.

Australia win the series and they deserve it as been the better side over the course of the 5 matches. At least England performances improved and we won a couple of games as at one point I thought we would be lucky win one game.

Shame we collapsed which really cost us in the end.

Certianly better than expected and with some players missing.

It's a busy schedule for some of them I think it's 5 of the players in the one day squad are now flying over to Pakistan for the 3 test series so no rest for them. Duckett, brook, smith, stone and carse are the 5 players.
Another thing is the players will be rotated around in this series so Atkinson may play 2 of the 3 test, stone may play the first test then miss second test to go home get married and then play 3rd test. I think Jamie Smith is scheduled miss one of the tests aswell as his partner is due give birth meaning Jordan Cox will play at some point on this tour.

Yes Australia deserved to win, but we did better than I thought. We are still the kings of the monumental collapse though.

Maybe there is still hope of a win ?

From the BBC ..

“We have already mentioned Pakistan first innings of the first Test against England two years ago when the hosts scored 500 and still lost”

Bad toss to lose really being out in the sun 36 degrees for a day and a half batting and fielding will take its toll. The pitch will probably play well for the first 3 or 4 days. England don't really draw games so there will most likely be a result in the game. If Pakistan score 550 then I'd be surprised if England can win from that position. We would probably have to score 700 in the first innings to get a decent lead. I'm expecting on day 5 alot of low bounce and turn so having to chance 250 or more would be very unlikely aswell

Good to get a wicket or two near the end but yes you feel it's going to be tough to prize too many out easily.

Draw or England defeat seem the most likely results.

Root got his 99th score of 50 or more in test cricket.

Only Tendulkar, Ponting and Kallis have 100 or more.

And now our record runs scorer.

Congratulations.

Fantastic achievement.

Approaching 800 with Brook on 315 and Woakes on 3.

Doubt we'll ever see anything like this again for a long time.

Five (or four depending on the lad who’s ill) wickets to win. I never expected to be typing that after their first innings.

I know Brook and Root will rightly get the headlines, and a couple of the Pakistan lads have played a couple of loose shots but we’ve bowled so well.

Pakistan being Pakistan.

They've done this before - and we've won like this too in the past.

What a fantastic test match. Some of my non-cricket mates say cricket is boring. I would say the opposite after watching that limp England display last night.

Going to use the same pitch it seems for the next test .

Will we see the same sort of match ?

Pakistan left out Shaheen, Babar and Naseem Shah for the next two tests. The first two I get to a degree but Naseem was by far their best bowler. That’s utterly mental from them.

Well England might win the toss and bat. That will be fun if it happens. They then have to get Root and brook out cheaply to be in with a chance..
