Thanks for that. I only followed sporadically on phone as I was in a meeting. The numbers also suggest that 86 runs in 6 overs of Power Play is not what you'd want v Oz.

No Head and Short really took the game away from us and we did well to restrict them to 180 but our batting wasn’t up to it .

He’s a good player Jacks. Just often seemed like he was caught in two minds how to approach his innings than just do what he does in domestic cricket. Good knock from him today and Duckett for that matter. Trent Bridge though you really want to be looking above 350 to defend as it’s as good a place for batting in this format as anywhere in the world.

No surprise we got thrashed really as Australia are world champions for starters. This is also a new England team, no Roy, bairstow, Ali, hales,buttler,malan,willey anymore. England side is now mainly made up of a few new players like bethall or experienced players that have played more recently in other formats like test or T20 hundred games so will take them a couple of games adjust to this format. Based on how archer bowled today he looks a million miles away from being able bowl 20 overs a day in test cricket. I personally think archer should just play T20, hundred or 50 over cricket and not bother with test cricket.

Wow that was one almighty thrashing and it all started so well. I think the rot started when Duckett was out 5 short of his century. From then on it was all downhill. They were talking about 400 at one stage and we just got past 300. I think we would have needed 400 to stand a chance against such an obviously superior team.

I will be surprised if England get anywhere near that total. I saw something in the paper earlier that Rashid is England's highest one day run scorer in this team with 850 runs, so you'd going struggle with that. Not much experience in the team and some of the batters like Livingstone salt jacks bethall are basically T20 and hundred players being asked to perform in 50 over cricket. The England players in this team just want score boundaries off every ball there's no building an innings like a Joe root or dawid malan would do.

I eat humble pie. I stopped following as I had to go to a meeting. Very pleasant surprise when I saw the result. The team is still very unbalanced though and Australia rested their best player. Well done the man from Jedburgh School.
