West indies are obviously batting alot better but it's a flat wicket, the sun's out and it's warm meaning barely any swing so it's easy to score runs. West indies just scored 68 runs off the last 10 overs comfortably. At least this match will last 4 or 5 days.
Free entry tomorrow with refunds for those that have paid, but its a toss-up whether it gets that far.

Delighted for Bash to get his 5for. Thought he bowled beautifully this evening. Think England will take a lot more from this test having been made to work hard for it than the win at Lords.

Was a nice thought by Notts at least to give free admission for tomorrow.

What a collapse .

Well played Bashir and England though .

Think it’s a shame for Windies they let things slide having made it to 60-0 in the run chase. Overall they showed a hell of a lot more in this match. Exactly why they need more exposure to playing the big 3 in test cricket, best way they improve.

Another one chopped onto the stumps ffs.

4 down and should be 5 had they reviewed Root’s LBW I thought this was supposed to be a good batting pitch,

Really fun day at Edgbaston today. Definitely one that ebbed and flowed. Smith and Root batted beautifully and it’s a shame they both didn’t get the hundreds for their efforts but great contributions regardless.

Think the Windies will have their work cut out with the bat to take it to a day 4 tomorrow.

We do seem to battle back well from set backs .

Like you say will probably see it out tomorrow.

I do hope the Windies could take it into a day 4 at least as while they’re outmatched for ability I really respect how they’ve fought and 3-0 won’t tell the full story of how well they’ve competed. The problem for them is when they have their moments of ascendancy either with the bat or ball they don’t sustain it.

Yes agree they have definitely had their moments and can bat/bowl well.

Graham Thorpe has passed away aged 55.

Had been unwell for sometime .

Very sad obviously.

One of the mainstays of the England team in the 90s and probably the best player many a times .

Yep he was by far and way our best batsman during the 90’s. To average nearly 45 when almost every team at that time had some pretty fearsome bowling is the mark of a great player.

Very sad news to hear today.

One week before the Sri Lanka test series gets under way and Ben Stokes is carried off with a pretty horrible looking hamstring injury. As if I didn’t dislike The Hundred enough already…

If stokes can't play in the test next week then it will be interesting what England will do with the team. I'd personally just play that Cox and bat him at 6 and go with a 4 bowler attack and have root and Lawrence bowling a few overs if needs be. I don't think we could say put stokes out move everybody up one slot and play Potts or stone as it weakens the batting too much.

Yeah he’s the vice-captain I believe, other option would have been Crawley I guess as he’s captained the white ball team before but obviously he’s out too. Equally as big a blow is the bowling now Stokes is back doing that. Going to put a lot on the shoulders of Bashir for him to hold an end while rotating the seamers at the other.

I've never watched a minute of the Hundred. Definitely a competition too far.

Englands record bowling to 9,10 & 11 must be among the worst around. Still happy enough with bowling them out day for around 230 but that could have been 150. Wasn't helped being limited to bowling just the spinners in fairness.

Yes does seem to be a problem.

Get away with it here but not against the top sides.

As you say we were limited at the end but down to our slow over rate and the weather?

All being well England should wrap up the win tomorrow. Great batting by Smith and I think we bowled really well as a unit. Would have had a couple more wickets if held on to some catches. Good that England have been made to work hard though.

That was a really hard test match. Take Smiths contribution with the bat out and SL quite probably win that. Root did a great job to see England home too. Strange to see a more watchful approach from England in the run chase. Adapted to the pitch and slow outfield quite well there.
