India beat the Aussies by 24 runs. Basically now the Afghans just have to beat Bangladesh (rained off will do too). Alternatively a Bangladesh win by 62 runs send them through and Aussies on the plane home.

England v India it is then in the semis. About as tough as it gets especially with it being a day game.

True enough though that was 4 years ago and that was a day-nighter in Adelaide. The other issue will be the weather. Hopefully that changes but thunderstorms predicted in Guyana and if it’s called off India will go through.

We’ve come a long way since the Aussies pontificating about whether could work it against Scotland so England got sent home in the group stages and now they’re off home and we have a semifinal to look forward to. Funny how things can come back on you like that.

Bloody hell this is nearly over before the Power Play is finished.

Can't honestly see a way back from this especially with this wicket.

India will never have an easier game that this. Should Buttler have at least batted first.

I’d say India are slight favourites at the minute.

Certain revenge for the last time we met in this comp.

What an embarrassing defeat.

No backbone at all.

I think its time for a rebuild. Very lucky to be in the S/F.

We've come across three good sides and be thrashed by each of them.

Need to build a team around Brooke.
Buttler is either great or appalling.
Time for a change methinks.

I guess we did lose to the Aussies, South Africa (albeit narrowly) and India which maybe shows where we really are.

That reminded me of our Semi final that, around 16/17 overs and India look like posting a bog standard score and then they just go and put the afterburners on.
Typical of a final too in that Rohit who’s been brilliant all the way through gets out early yet Kohli who’s been absolutely shite suddenly turns up and delivers in the final.
177 for SA to win not a chance IMO against this India bowling attack, gotta leave for work in a minute so can’t watch the run chase unfortunately.

30 needed off 30 balls and after a 24 runs over they scored 23 in the next 5 overs. Credit to India because one catch was described as the best ever seen.

Can only say India were the best team in the competition. South Africa gave it a real good go chasing the total but with the finish line in sight they maybe panicked a little bit. Problem with facing India is for all intents and purposes it’s a 16 over innings as Bumrah is just so good with the ball.

Looking forward to the test summer now. More my kind of cricket. Got tickets for the Saturday at Edgbaston against WI but obviously first up have Jimmy’s final test.

End of an era starts tomorrow.

Jimmy in his last test match.

Let's hope he goes out with a bang rather than a soggy wet one!

Think England will be satisfied with that session to get three wickets. Atkinson bowled really well on debut and Stokes had a nice rhythm too.

And even better after lunch .

Fantastic debut for Atkinson .

Successful day all round for England as batted very well also. More than a 50-50 chance the test is over tomorrow. Brilliant for Atkinson today but just for sentimentality reasons would love to see Jimmy bag a few in the 2nd innings.

Might be over today .

“A 200th Test wicket for Stokes to add to his 6,000+ Test runs. Only Sobers and Kallis have done it before. WI 18-2”

Great debut knock for Smith .

4 down for the Windies now so it’s looking quite possible to be a 2 day test. I actually think the Windies stuck to their task in the field well but have seen enough already with the bat they’re hopelessly outmatched in this format.

Like to see Bashir get a chance to maybe roll his arm over if it allows. Stokes looks great with the ball it must be said.

My ex is very angry that Jimmy has had his Test career ended prematurely. She convinced it wasn't his decision and I think she's right. Good luck jimmy in the next chapter.

No it certainly wasn’t going by his own comments .

Maybe Atkinson will be the one but most of the other potential replacements seem to be injured a lot .

There meant be looking towards the ashes and trying out some younger cricketers, then go and call up mark wood aged 35 as Andersons replacement. I hope they play one of Potts or Pennington instead of wood and let wood have a rest as he's been in the world cup recently so give him this series off.

Well Potts and Pennington haven't been selected. Basically England's attack consists of a 35 year old woakes who will earn his 50th test cap, 35 year old mark wood and I think Ben stokes is 33. I hope they are going give Potts and Pennington game time over the summer and don't just keep using wood and woakes.

A really flat surface I guess and obviously hot weather.

Mark Wood did 6 balls over 90mph apparently!

West indies are obviously batting alot better but it's a flat wicket, the sun's out and it's warm meaning barely any swing so it's easy to score runs. West indies just scored 68 runs off the last 10 overs comfortably. At least this match will last 4 or 5 days.
