So long as they get the 5 overs in which looks likely now should be a routine win for England from here. Then in the position of wanting the Aussies to win, forgive me while I go to throw up.

I woke up at 3.00 am this morning and checked the scores and to all intents and purposes it looked like a Scotland win. Thank god they accelerated when I went back to sleep.
Decent total there.

Now got to get the wickets and hope the rain stays away .

Yes Aussies didn’t really get going till the last 2/3 overs .

Best performance in a long time by England particularly with the bat. Salt was just brutal especially that 30 run over which pretty much confirmed the win. Will now need to win one of the US or SA games and would expect England will make their way into the Semi’s.

Extremely good win for England.

Very convincing.

Salt and Bairstow particularly.

I was involved in a RTA yesterday. Not my fault and now I've got all that rigmarole of sorting the repair. I needed some good news when I woke up and Salty provided it. Just before the 30 run over someone had commented on Cricinfo that Salt hadn't scored a boundary since over 6.

Looks like it should be a straightforward passage to the semis for both the Aussies and India. One way or another if England are to win the competition they are going to have to be able to beat both of them in the semis and final.

This afternoons game with SA is going to be a big indicator though. They’ve won a lot of tight games so far even if the opposition hasn’t been the strongest but still look to me the most well rounded team in the competition.

Looks like we are in for a grandstand finish now. Great counter from Brook and Livingstone. Still work to do, not easy for a new man coming in so these need to do the bulk of the rest.

Just fell short in the end. Should go through in any case with a win over the US.

SA keep winning those close ones.

Yes we should get through, but we'll have to beat India and Australia to retain the Cup.

Possibly though I think this SA team is plenty good enough to knock either of them out in the semi’s so it may well be them again.

Personally I’d go with playing India. They always carry a lot more weight of expectation when it gets to knockout phases in tournaments so think the pressure could get to them more than it would the Aussies.

Aussies go down to the Afghans last night. Shame that. Be an even bigger shame if they were to lose to the Indians and go out the competition.

Big one for England today against the US. Should hopefully be a pretty straightforward win but strange things already happened in this WC.

I’m pleased the Aussies didn’t play like that against Scotland.

Bowling first because it seems the only thing Buttler knows to do. A win pretty much takes England through to the semis regardless with the NRR.

Excellent bowling so far from England this especially Adil Rashid, when he bowls like this he must be so hard to read and play shots against.

Wow not a bad over from Chris Jordan that!!

Quadruple wicket maiden, his second ball nearly got another one too.

Well that was really good from England. Rashid aesthetically is just so good to watch with his flight and variations. Easy to make the best batsmen look clueless never mind the Americans. Well done to Jordan for the hat trick too. England smartly learned the lessons of previous games and went to the cutters.

116 to win, just don’t mess it up now. Even better if do it within 18.4 overs as that takes NRR above SA and guarantees the semis.

The comms said it doesn't count as a maiden because the over wasn't completed .... not that he'll be that bothered.

Brutal innings from Buttler once he got going. Fantastic performance by England. Now a scenario where a close win for the Windies later means England go through as group winners.

Either way semis it is and job well done.

If I cared enough to find out I’d ask what Shropshire has to do with anything but never mind.

India giving the Aussie bowling a right fisting at the mo. Currently 155/3 with 6 overs to go. Aussies probably staring at a total around 220 at the present rate.
