Looks the best side we have on offer at the moment in fairness, the tail offers some power hitting and speed too.

43-2 currently. These Windies wickets are so slow and low, it's no wonder we don't have many young lads wanting to grow up and be fast bowlers, it's just a hard, tireless, dull, toil that must ruin your body.

Why the fuck is Trott bowling now? Near the end of the day? Why not bowl Root? Ridicolous from Cook.

Just managed to get in from work to catch the end of the cricket , what do I see ? Trott trundling in . Give me fucking strength !!! Generally thought england did ok but still lacking a bit of penetration although the pitch hasn't helped . On a side note the last time chanderpaul played a shot like that it must have been in black and white .

He's what, 40 or 41 now? Been a stallion of Windies cricket, so I hope he retires before he does start to tarnish his memory. Absolutely pouring with rain at the moment, looks quite set in, don't suspect we will see much of the morning.

Last wicket partnership held us up somewhat.

Absolutely but 180-5 with someone on 90 and another set at 30 at the crease, I can accept another 120 odd from the remaining players on a relatively flat wicket. I can't remember the last time we had such a long batting line up. However, it's absolutely vital that Cook/Trott/Ballance score quickly tommorrow or else they basically make the game very, very hard to win. 3.5/4 an over, I don't care if it's there game, they need to adapt. Providing no mass collapse tommorrow, we need to be 420 minimum at the days end. Lead of 120 odd, come back the following morning, smash whatever we can, give ourselves a 200 lead if possible and then go all guns blazing at them.

That wicket for Ali will help him and his confidence, he will be key once the new ball loses it's shine in the final innings.

It'll be another draw

Probably, especially if it rains again and we bat slowly. 74-0 from 26 overs, nice, safe session from England. Hopefully Cook and Trott can finally push on and score big runs quickly now.

Cook playing a very disciplined innings, and Trott also going along well

92-0 - not a bad start at all.

100 partnership up between Cook and Trott, so far so good. At present while it's somewhat slow-going I'm not too worried about that but certainly as the day progresses England will need to consider that a bit, maybe pushing Buttler or Stokes up the order if the situation demands it.

Bell chops on the over after, 2 for Gabriel. Tough pitch to play cut shots on. Thankful the wickets have tumbled though, gets some players that don't send you to sleep to the crease. This top 3 just digs holes. 211 fucking deliveries, against a moderate county attack in the bright sunshine, with a modicum of spin...75 for Cook. Absolutely dire. I like Cook, but the mentality of this entire top order is pathetic.

What are we, 66.1 overs. 164 runs. Aussies would be what, 270-3 now? Probably even more.

Hard to disagree with that.. I really am hating the boring, negative cricket the top order plays.. the only way it will change is for a complete top order re shuffle, which will never happen

Symptomatic of a cautious coach and an overly cautious captain. Cook used to be an aggressive opener, now he just potters along trying not to get out and if he happens to score some runs it's a bonus. We are giving a half strength WI too much respect here, given that there will be more time taken out of this game for weather, we really need to be pushing on now.

Root apart that was hard work today , I know it won't say so in the scorebook but that was an ugly 50 from trott . I hope that doesn't convince the selectors that he's the answer at the top of the order although I wouldn't be surprised if they've already made that decision .

Did Anderson just not know where the ball was or something?

Redeemed himself with that early wicket, one more before lunch would be nice.

Cost Root a double hundred though. I'd be fuming if I was him.

Play tactically well against us or without a swinging ball and our attack is very, very average.
