Simply pointing out that Scunny and Northampton aint so great either, and an arseache to reach the stadium even when you get there.

Granted, it's a piece of piss and cheap to get to for us but there's plenty of stop-off points. Always have a good booze in Rochester before and after and if away fans actually walked further than the southern belle they would probably find some better pubs down the high street of Gillingham and just off it.

Camborne isn't great, but it isn't Redruth and the nearest beach is less than 4 miles away.

Oh, no denying the place is an absolute khazi but it's not that bad for a beer as an away fan.

Can't remember the name of all the pubs but remember going in the dog and bone once which was decent enough, last season the Brittania was absolutely banged out with Charlton fans, could barely move. In the end the staff just allowed fans to nip opposite and bring cans in. Shame that was shut for our visit this year.

Rochester is always decent. Have even stopped off at Chatham on a few occasions although obviously not as good.

Yeah, I enjoy the trip to Gillingham but like I say, we're one of the lucky ones in the fact it's so simple to get to and costs about 10 quid.

Decent value tickets, a cracking away end with good facilities and good views. Loads of real ale pubs and places to eat nearby and train station 15 mins walk from the stadium, loads of parking. Good location if you're coming train or car.

Charlton is a decent away day to be fair.

Rochdale's stadium is a nice part of a shit town and the stadium itself is one of the better new refurbs that has been done. The Cemetery pub is one of my favourite awayday pubs.

I'm not from Gillingham. Peterborough was alright, I never said it was wonderful! I'm not really a pub kind of guy so it might well be terrible from that point of view, but as a place it seemed reasonable. Decent weather probably helped, but I certainly ended the day with more positive than negative things to say about the place.

I've never been to either but Charlton and Wimbledon are in the London area so win by default.

I've always thought Charlton would a poor away day for a Gillingham fan. Charlton itself is now crap with the closure of most pubs. The only reason it's a good away day for those coming from the north is because they land in London and there's a few places they can jump off on the way to Charlton. Coming from Gillingham, there's nowhere to really jump off at, I suppose you could have a few jars in Dartford but then you're still 25 mins away from Charlton.

There’s a brick factory too. I used to pass it on my way to Ely on my way to Kings Lynn. Used to like looking at that brick factory.

I look at it as a chance to see a part of the country I might otherwise not get a chance to really. Does help if it's easy to get to, and Kent to Peterborough is incredibly easy. I've turned into a bit of a groundhopper in the last few years so also availability of a decent enough place to stay if I'm doing a weekender. If there's a decent pub about then sure, I'll go for it. I'm just not one of those that goes to a new town with the hope of finding 'a pub' and just settling for the first thing you see before moaning about how shit the whole town is based on that one pub you can't remember the name of which only played Muse cause some dickhead stuck £20 in the jukebox. I tend to plan out where I'm going to head before I get there, which might be a bit different but I like to know. I'm very much not what you would probably consider a typical away fan in these respects.

In terms of Charlton, I don't live in Gillingham so I don't come by that route, so I tend to meet up with friends in London before the game and then make my way across. Any excuse to go and see mates in any city makes it a good away day for me, which means any opportunity to visit Nottingham, Sheffield or Bristol tends to go down well.

We spent a while looking round the cathedral, it's a superb bit of architecture.
