Well, to be fair, the Cheltenham fans are convinced we are signing Alfie May and most are quoting £200k maximum. A little odd, considering how in demand he is supposed to be and the fact that Doncaster will get some of the fee.

Then it is either Andrew Dallas from Solihull OR Conor McMenamin from Glentoran, plus an unknown defender for cover, and we will be done.

You read it here first. Get yerself down the bookies to put some money on the foregone conclusion of us being league winners:lol:

Calling a fan base stupid and weird because our club signed a couple of your players in your January 2 for 1 sales?

Are you getting confused with me saying people in Kent are weird?

Wrexham, Salford, Grimsby with their cup millions and Mansfield with the vast sums (must be up to £500k by now I'd have thought) that we gave them for Lapslie and Hawkins.

5th highest sounds about right.
Our budget has gone up but not by a massive amount, we're spreading the cup money across three year deals so absolutely no chance our budget for the season is bigger than yours. Reckon we'll be somewhere around 8th to 12th. You've missed some big hitters off your list there. MK Dons, Bradford, Stockport and Notts for example.

Why do people not seem aware of Stockports funding? They always get left off these sorts of lists.

We were funded to make sure we got out of the NL (we did well considering it was less than yours) and although we have a very competitive budget for L2 we're not big spenders in comparison to the big 3 or 4 and the plan certainly isn't to spend load of money every window.

I'd be very surprised if our budget two seasons ago was significantly bigger than yours. Last season, absolutely, but not the season you went up. For every Mullin, Tozer and Palmer we had a Tyler French, Christian Dibble and Jordan Ponticelli.

You’ve lost me, why-ever would i be bitter (or need to be bitter) of gillingham?

Making a comment about you having a big budget is an observation, a comment. If that somehow computes to you that’s bitter, then, well yeah :ffs:
That is how I read your post. Bradford fans are not bitter about the Williams saga, yes, we were disappointed when it happened but actually quite happy about it now.

The last time we were big spenders, we finished 24th in the division.

We still had loads of our National League North team in our squad as well, Palmer, Keane, Minihan, obviously Hinchliffe. I think yours was higher after the January window but we'd managed to build up enough head of steam under Challinor to eventually see you off, although it did look hairy at times towards the end.

Exactly, it’s not rocket science.

Because Stockport fans are in as much denial as Gillingham fans, they have just done a better job of convincing everyone else they don't spend much.

Stockport fans have generally avoided the subject plus they are much more experienced in the matter, whereas you can tell for Gillingham this is truly new territory hence the poor attempts at defending or denying the massive spending.

Embrace it.

I wish we were going all Man City on the division.

I was born in All Saints maternity hospital, my Dad is a Gills fan and both sides of my family are Kentish. Visited Medway regularly. Can confirm, Kent folk are odd and I'm not just talking about my relatives who are undoubtedly dysfunctional. Hard to put my finger on exactly why, they're just a bit away with the fairies
I used to work with a guy from Gillingham and he could’ve had an argument if he was in a locked room by himself.
Also I found it easier to understand the Polish and Romanians there than him with his Kent accent.
He moved to Scunny a few years ago though so he’s their problem now. :D

Because our DOF gives it to agents rather than actually buying football players.

Anyway I genuinely think our days of big spending are over now, all things I’ve heard indicate a scaling back of funding to a similar level of Radford at Mansfield. So not paupers but not a Gillingham.

I'm moving to Kent next month so I think everyone slagging it off really needs to grow up.

Wow they just let anyone in.
I'll have you know I had to go before a panel and convince them I am committed to Waitrose, non-supermarket red wine and strawberry picking and that I'll purchase or breed a hypoallergenic dog of some sort within 6 months of my arrival. Then and only then will they stamp my visa and triple my wage. The process is not quite as straight forward if you aren't a Mansfield Town footballer.

It was very straight forward there for mansfield footballers last season for sure.

Faversham. Have been defeated in my quest to buy property in London on account of not being a millionaire yet and my missus has got a place in her hometown in Faversham that she's been renting out so we've decided to move in there and I'll commute into London a few days a week.
