But it’s equally possible the opposite is true and the quality of two teams was particularly good. If anything I think it was the strongest league overall in the four years we were down there, but I would say that I guess haha.
I would agree - the quality has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years. There is a gap to League 2 but I don’t think it is huge. It looks like a much smaller gap than the one between League 2 and League 1.

Why the hate for Crawley?

When I think about it, Wrexham spent more time in the Conference than we did. Proper non league and you only got out by spending a film stars money (at least ours was a supporter before).

Wrexham and Salford are cut from the same cloth.

Casey

It's only because Crawley were the first of the monied teams after we went down. And you had that fat shit Steve Evans as manager for years. I could have thrown shade on FGR or Harrogate or someone like that, your name just popped up first.

We are proper non league maybe but will throw off that stink after a season or two back in the league and regain our rightful status as a historic league team.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I’m really not sure how people think the NL was that strong last year. Just look at the teams in the play offs. Chesterfield were fairly rubbish for a lot of the season (by their own fans admission) and came 3rd, then come Woking, Barnet, boringwood and Bromley. Not exactly high quality when Woking come 4th and no one expected Barnet to do that well. Neither of the teams who went down came close to being any good (although fair play to Scunthorpe for managing to do what we did and get out of that league at the first attempt), and Southend were expected to improve but were in internal turmoil and Halifax who were really strong the year before were worried about relegation for a lot of the season.
Saying that, you can only beat what is in front of you. I think Wrexham will push into at least the play offs, but personally think county are being overhyped. Think the way they play will get them found out more in this league.

That’s just looking at the clubs and not the teams, though. Woking, Boreham Wood and Bromley all had/have big budgets and experienced teams with plenty of ex-EFL quality.

It’s all relative, but enough that they should’ve finished where they did. Not massively lower than Notts or Chesterfield.

We were rubbish all season but as we had a guy who could score, we managed 6th in lge 2.

Don't think we belong in the 'kitchen sink' category really.

The summer transfer wage committee are currently discussing the confirmed™️ details of Andy Cook new massive contract so a lot hinges on that.

We're paying Cook in kebabs. We're being very clever with applications of both Uber Eats and Just Eat vouchers and discounts.

Wrexham definitely will be, I think we will if we can keep hold of our manager and most of our key players.

There’s every chance you and wrexham could go straight through, your both bigger than many in the league and managed properly which you appear to be.

Blimey, McGoldrick, that is a decent signing...one of the best players I saw feature against us last season...if Notts now sign Barry Bannon then I think we can just send them the trophy now!

Hard to judge because we improved so much on previous years, but I thought there was some proper dogshit down there last year when previously I’d been pleasantly surprised at the quality.

Anyway after today’s news I’m delighted that we’re confirmed on the massively GOING FOR IT thread.

If County also sign Barry Bannon SoC will be left with no choice but to make another new top tier Going For It™️ list.

I wonder what effect all this will have on the League One relegation battle next season... I have confidence that Simmo can keep us out of it but we also have to concede that the vast majority of pundits have us down as strugglers for good reason. Clubs will be looking at L2 with a sense of urgency that they have to pull out all the stops to avoid going down there or they may never get back out. If I were a Wigan fan I'd be shitting myself at how strong the top end of League Two is looking for the next few seasons at least.

It’ll do Wigan good to get back to a more natural level before DW chucked money at them, their fans need bringing down a peg or 10.

It surely can’t be worse than Blackpools before it was redeveloped?

Who are the clubs that we can consider to be not going for it at all, and hoping to just have a safe season?

Crawley aren't doing much yet, (it's possible that WAGMI actually are on holiday for 2 months and have left the receptionist in charge) but given their situation, once they finally ship out the other players they want rid of, (Hessenthaler and Appiah), they might feel the need to visibly go for it. It's possible they have money.

If you take the Morecambe board at their word (which FTR I don't) they'd be in a high GFI category.

Answering my own question, I think Accrington are going to try to consolidate next year, and just unfold the deck chair. Which with no clear relegation favourites could be dangerous.

I'd agree that my side, Bradford should be considered just still going for it. I know that there's pressure on the board, but I think they're never going to kitchen sink. On the other hand, Andy Cook and even Mark Hughes could be seen as short term assets. I'm just suggesting we're a sensible GFI.

For the first time in ages Salford aren't one of the preseason favourites. (8th at the moment). They didn't sack their manager (for the club's highest ever league placing) and people seem to think they're going to be sensible, but it wouldn't be a massive surprise if they suddenly do an unhinged GFI.

Have Wrexham made any new signings yet?

No doubt they will go for it, but it doesn’t look like they should be in the kitchen sink or even the going for it category yet.

Just re-signed Foster.

We will only be signing two or three players. Likely to be GFI worthy names though, if the rumours are to be believed.

Parky likes to make a summer marquee signing amongst the steady eddies. Mullin two seasons ago, Elliot Lee last year.

They don’t have to sign anyone to be the kitchen sink list they are already outspending everyone.
