Sadly, as I flew to Paris a few weeks ago, I was unable to get that elusive proof, because my daughter insisted on having the window seat.

Why do five-year-olds en-route to Disneyland insist on ruining science?
didn't you just hover above your house and wait for the earth to spin beneath you??

Why is the horizon at 179.92° instead of 180°?
Why is it when Kansas a state measured at 213,096 km² and literally flatter than a pancake, you cannot see or find any curve whatsoever and such you can physically see with your own eyes via a telescope for over 100 miles in a straight line..............and if the earth were as NASA and the Freemasons tell us a globe there should be over 600ft of curve...........pfft

The Mathematics behind this Calculation
horiz.gif
This calculation should be taken as a guide only as it assumes the earth is a perfect ball (THIS IS STILL TO BE PROVEN BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT) 6378137 metres radius. It also assumes the horizon you are looking at is at sea level. A triangle is formed with the centre of the earth (C) as one point, the horizon point (H) is a right angle and the observer (O) the third corner. Using Pythagoras's theorem we can calculate the distance from the observer to the horizon (OH) knowing CH is the earth's radius (r) and CO is the earth's radius (r) plus observer's height (v) above sea level.

Sitting in a hotel room 10m above sea level a boat on the horizon will be 11.3km away. The reverse is also true, whilst rowing across the Atlantic, the very top of a mountain range 400m high could be seen on your horizon at a distance of 71.4 km assuming the air was clear enough.

LOL

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
There's no such thing as gravity.

The Mississippi river in its 3000 miles would have to ascend 11 miles before reaching the Gulf of Mexico.

There is. It's called the horizon and is the reason you can't see America from Cornwall.

If the horizon is approximately 3 miles ahead for your direct vision and it then curves away ( apparently ). Your peripheral vision approximately 180 degrees will be 6 miles in width, yet there is still no curve whatsoever.

The earth is flat
