Well there's a stunning decision. Hopefully Mercedes get someone in who can challenge Hamilton or there won't be a championship battle next year.

Aye Alonso would be great, the best driver in F1.

No chance on anyone like Alonso or Seb, Merc won't want any other situation like the previous two years. They'll have a #1 and a #2 now.

Although, I reckon Verstappen and Lewis going head to head would be unreal, better than Alonso/Lewis. But it won't happen.

As said, I can't see it being Alonso either. Mercedes have found it tough managing Hamilton and Rosberg so I can't see them wanting Hamilton v Alonso part 2. Plus McLaren won't want to release him from his contract either.

Vettel is more of a possibility as he seems to have fallen out with Ferrari, though I'm not sure they'd let him go to a rival. Plus he's German which would suit Mercedes nicely. But would they want to manage him v Hamilton? Not so sure.

I think it's down to Bottas or Wehrlein personally. Cheap options, throw their weight behind Hamilton next season. The rule changes could see their advantage wiped out too so no internal team politics would help.

Only time will tell i guess. They looked pretty good in testing but they always do to win over sponsors etc... Where as Mercedes will turn there engines down in testing not to give anything away.

Jesus, hopefully that isn't a sign of things to come.
How dull was that? Yeah its nice that the Mercs finally have some competiton but its going to be a long boring season if every race is one stop and cars can't overtake. Hamilton after his stop was over 2 seconds a lap quicker than Verstappen and even with DRS didn't get a chance to overtake. Sainz closed 7 seconds On checo in 2 laps and couldn't pass.....

Apart from 2 cars overtaking a struggling Alonso near the end I don't remember a decent thing about the race.

That's great news about Alonso doing Indy, it used to happen all the time, I hope he wins it but it will be a shock to his system.
