Right, a little challenge for anyone with the inclination. I'm going to Cologne for a few days with friends 21st March, and haven't booked a return journey yet (to barcelona).

They are staying until 24th (thursday) and then I can either head straight back to Spain, visit friends in London or extend my trip elsewhere until 28th (monday) at the latest. I'm willing to go by bus, flights, train or blabla car (or equivalent). Being Easter does seem to make everything more expensive unfortunately.

If anyone can recommend a extra mini-adventure, that would cost <150€ (just the travel - including getting back to El Prat BCN), I would be forever grateful.

There is a flight from Vienna on the 28th to Barcelona for £86. How much is the train from Cologne to there?

Can anyone recommend a sunny few days away in October / November that is cheap, 2hours 30 max from London.

Surely flights that time of the year should be dirt cheap.

There are always cheap flights to Faro that time of the year and it's still sunny.

Also maybe Ibiza, I've always wanted to go in the winter after the party season has finished. You'll need to rent a car to get the best out of it though and a lot of places will be shut too....

Thanks mate, I'm getting way ahead of myself not even taken my daughter on her first plane holiday yet and already planning the second one :bg:

Never know if in June she is good with Mallorca maybe end of the year we could travel a little further.

Thanks Techno, I will check them both out.

Is there actually a tip in getting flights on the cheap.

Germany seems to be a popular destination.

Off to Hamburg for 3 days in November myself.

Cheers Natch, I'll look into it. I spent 24hrs in Vienna a few years ago and found it a little cold, but that price isn't too bad for Easter weekend.

The alternative I'm looking at is a carshare to Amsterdam (not sure how I've never been) and then back on 26th.

Crewe is more entertaining than Vienna.

Not a holiday, but off to Manchester for the day on Monday. All previous trips have been purely Alcohol and sport related so looking to see a bit of the city - any 'must-do' attractions? Also any tips on places to eat?

Bem Brasil... meat, lots of meat.

National Football Museum is good to kill an hour.

The Junkyard Mini Golf Course is quite cool as well - https://www.facebook.com/junkyardgolfclub/

Avoid Curry Mile - trust me.
Fuck Bem Brasil - Fazenda is miles better for that sort of thing. Just make sure you eat tactically.

All trips should include alcohol, so don't avoid that.

Why avoid curry mile? Its great if you know where to eat, lived there last year and don't see the issue tbh

Go to Mowgli's - trust me.

Mowgli's I'd happily try - there's one in the Triangle.

As for the Curry Mile - my mate is a delivery driver for a brewery so delivers to all restaurants on that stretch. Now like me, he loves his rubies, but the sights he has seen in those kitchens and back yards are nothing short of digusting and he'd rather gargle a load of cheddar-riddled helmets than dine on the curry mile.

There's also been a few sightings of bags of dead cats too.

Haha can see that, there aren't many I'd eat at purely cos so many are just your bog standard curry houses at best. Can remember the cats head thing, although I think that was a kebab shop?

Off back down to the cote d'azur this year. Very familiar so nothing new but you know what you're gonna get and that is a pretty decent combination of things.
