Dublin is very decent, you can see what there is to see in a day, the rest of it is just drinking.

The pubs are great, really lively but they can get a little samey. We drank down Baggot Street at night, away from the hen dos and fancy dress wankers. Price wise its not cheap but it's not as bad as some parts of London. Amsterdam is also a lot more expensive, it's not far off Northern Quarter/ Deansgate prices for a pint.

Booked 10 nights in Morocco yesterday for July. First 10 days of the school holidays so paid an inflated price for it. Nice little hotel right on the beach in Agadir.

Pompei for 8 nights in September with the missus. Gonna climb Mount Vesuvius and have trips to Naples and Rome in that time.

Anyone been to Kenya before? My brother recently got a job out there so was planning a visit around August/September time.

Just been to the pyramids in Egypt. Went on an organised bike ride around them so got in for free. (bike ride was cheaper than the entry ticket).

Stunning. Words can't describe how incredible the place is. Do get there at least once in your life.

Anyone spent much time in Hong Kong?

Anything I definitely shouldn't miss when over there?

Victoria Peak at twilight. The cable car up to the Big Buddha. Wednesday night Happy Valley races. Cheap and good Indian takeaway from ground floor in Chungking Mansions. Sunday Funday in Wan Chai. IMO

nousername would be the better person to ask though, if he's still around

Victoria Peak for a sundowner and Big Buddah definitely. Also the escalators and restaurants/bars on the Mid Levels around Jubilee Street.

Light show at the water front was something to do before having a few beers. There are some interesting temples to visit if you are so inclined. We had a great (vegetarian) meal at the Chi Lin Nunnery after looking around the nearby gardens.

Good bird watching opportunities easily accessible if you were interested.

Ask for the bill when the waitress/waiter takes your final plate away, that way you won't have to worry about catching their eye.

Don't put your elbows on the table.

Any tips/recommendations for Naples and Vietnam? (HCMC, Hoi An and Hanoi in particular).

I only realised today that Napoli at are home on Sunday for the final game but looks like it's close to a sell out so probably won't bother, would have been class.

Didn't think there was a lot to do/see in Naples apart from the football really. I'd try your best to get hold of a ticket, it's a good experience especialy if you're in one of the curva's.

I'm also doing Vietnam for 3 weeks at the end of the month.

Going back to Egypt again in a couple of weeks with work and doing a 3 week tour after. Going right out into the desert in the middle of nowhere (near the Libyan border) then travelling 1000km across it in a jeep to get to Luxor in the south and then a few days on the Red Sea. Can’t wait. Egypt is a quality place to visit. Gonna be boiling though looking at the weather, 45-50 during the day time. Fuck.

Vietnam is my favourte country on earth after Austrailia. Try and get to all the places you mention. I didn't really like Hanoi but it was our last stop on a 3 month trip in SE Asia so I think I was just a bit tired of the whole place. Halong bay is incredible too. 12p a beer if you know the right places around Vietnam....ceetainly beats £5 a beer back home. I think this is the right place but we went to Phong Nha national park. There's not a whole lot to it but rent a couple of motorbikes (not pedal bikes, we made that mistake and ended up being chased through the mountains by packs of dogs...one of the scariest but funniest experiences I've ever had) and get out to the caves. Some of the landscape is unbelievable.

I have pretty awful attention span so the idea of a beach holiday would bore me silly.....although I've done them, it's Interesting reading this thread that lots don't do that and prefer to see the sights or do various activities. Even that I think would bore me...grand canyon ok....now what?

Since I became self employed I don't have any desire for holidays, no daily grind is probably the reason, but i'd have to travel on my own these days that doesn't help.

I prefer to go to concerts than holidays.:bg:

Me and the wife are looking to go to Mexico next May for our belated honeymoon. All inclusive of course, preferably Riviera Maya but willing to consider other areas close by.

Happy to spend £1-2k pp, nothing stupidly expensive though.

Have looked at Excellence Playa Mujeres (high-end pricing), El Dorado Seaside Suites (mid-tier pricing) and Luxury Bahia Principe San Ka’an (mid-tier pricing) so far, all look attractive enough.

Suggest away please!!

We spent a very pleasant week at Grand Velas Riviera Maya a couple of years ago. It would probably be pushing at the £2K pp but worth every penny IMHO.
