If he doesn't learn from that then I really think there is no hope for him to be honest. We were crying out for width all game, as soon as we got it we looked dangerous again. He needs to change his approach to get the best of the front 2.

Listened to Ainsworth on the way back and he mentioned that they matched our diamond today. Is that not incredibley concerning to anyone that a team matched us up and played the formation we have been slaving away trying to perfect for well over a year and were immediately better than us? Embarrassing for Jones really IMO. I'll be happy if we never play it again to be honest.
But it wasn't really a midfield diamond match up. And we were allowed a fair bit of space in the park. The reason we were losing was a defensive error and in reality Wycombe bypassed the midfield anyway.

Bit of an injustice on Wycombe as we were dreadful IMO but I'll take it. Have to play better than that though.
We weren't dreadful. I think our level of play hasn't changed that much in the last three games - we come away with 6 points, when 4 would've been fair. But we deserved more than 0 at Barnet, so swings and roundabouts.

Still much more to come for us.

I hope the match ball collects his air miles tonight - it spent that much time in the air, it could spend it on a trip to Australia...

Don't agree with you unsurprisingly. We were but we don't bloody use the space because the full backs continually come inside all the time to congest the middle of the pitch. We totally played into how Wycombe wanted us to play for the vast majority of the game.

Also disagree about them bypassing the midfield, they played a bit and got the ball wide to get crosses in. They could have had one or two before they got their first y doing that. Their goal came from a move of 10 passes or more I think so that's total garbage about it being a mistake. We got outplayed. They go long at times but not on the same level as Lincoln really.

Didn't play well today, particularly first half which was pretty awful. However great spirit to get the win which at the end of the day is what counts. Despite the bad performance we still had a goal disallowed, a missed penalty and their keeper made a couple of very decent saves (Pelly with a great shot which was turned over the bar). Whatever NJ said at half time seemed to work as we wanted the ball more second half. Can't help feeling thought that Wycombe helped us a little with their subsitutions and settling for the 1-0 win which meant they didn't play with the same intensity second half. Thought our fans were vocal today and the noise at the final whistle should give the players a good lift. I'm hoping NJ looks hard at the way we play which is being easily read by many of our opponents. I agree with The fat one that teams are dictating the game and we are having trouble adapting. Would have been satified with the draw today but the win is a bonus and a very important one too.

Is anyone still unclear as to why this thread is titled the Hylton derby after the pure hatred from Wycombes fans for all of the 2nd half yesterday? The guy thrives off of it. Its like fuel.

Not sure but it might have to do with the game last year where he certainly got up their noses.

He was a complete menace in that one and although he didnt score, it was an archetypal Danny Hylton performance and of his better games of the season IMO. He also had the temerity to stand up to some of the pretty heavy handed treatment that was meted out by the Wycombe centre halves that day, I recall him simply running back across the half way line, with the ball a good 40 yards away and being kicked/tripped by Stewart on a number of occassions only for the Wycombe fans to give him abuse for "diving" when he complained about it happening to the ref.

Lets face it he is a complete nuisance to play against and he does play for things and makes the most of them but he is often on the receiving end of some pretty heavy handed treatment. I normally only go to the close away games but it is noticeable that he often has the shit kicked out of him away from home, when he has the temerity to give it back everyone is up in arms. Just part and parcel of the battle between centre halves and forwards at this level, Cuthbert often does the same to opposition forwards (and is often punished for it!) .

As much as you might like him as he's one of your own, you must be able to fully appreciate why people hate Hylton so much, even his fellow professionals. He's an absolute prick. Look at how he celebrated yesterday - no wonder Akinfenwa has something to say to him.

Because he dives just like he did at Oxford and is well known for it by any fans of any teams in League 2. Wycombe fans highlight of last season? When Pierre took him out forcing him to leave the pitch in pain and he didn't even get booked  Whoever Luton play the opposition fans will slag off Diving Danny Hylton for his antics, fuck me Ainsworth has us using the dark arts but no Wycombe fan would want that **** playing for our club.

So its obviously the Oxford connection then more than his diving antics. Haven't Wycombe got a little bit of rivalry with Oxford in the absense of any other potential derby fixture? I'm sure any team in league 2 would like Hylton in their line up. I do understand the stick he gets and personally I like to seem him on his feet more as referees are aware of his reputation and don't blow up as often as they did before. Not only that but some of trying to win a free kick attempts have resulted in us losing possession and losing the attacking momentum.

Everybody knows Danny is a bit of a prick. He's great at diving and winding up players and fans. But would I take him if offered? Sure I would.

There is no rivalry between Wycombe and Oxford as we are in 2 different counties in fact we have no rivals anymore although we despise MK ****s for setting up their sham club in Bucks when for years we were the only FL team in the county.

Hylton abused our bench at the final whistle which kis bloody stupid when The Beast is sitting there, fook me Hylton ran away like a scared little girl when he realised who was after him. And by the way we have enough cheating arseholes in our team without adding to them thank you, it's like me saying you'd want Ainsworth as your manager if things go tits up at Luton though you'd be more than welcome to him

Oxford is a fairly local game for you lot and you have played eachother a fair amount in recent years. Can't believe there isn't the slightest bit of rivalry. But if you insist on being so fussy then MK Dons could be an option. Both of you have no rivals and as you mention are in the same county which seems to be a criteria. Although personally I hope the MK manage to lure a top Rugby Union club to the city meaning the locals will be less interested in the football and the club can die a slow death. Most wear replica shirts of other teams anyway.
As for Hylton running away from Akinfenwa. Didn't see who he was angry with but someone wound him up. To be honest I don't think anybody would fancy their chances with Akinfenwa. The guy is in the wrong sport.

Even Oxford fans will say there is no rivalry as there's is with Swindon. We had a rivalry with Slough Town when we were in The Conference up until 1993 when we joined The Football League and they had consecutive relegations into obscurity so that ended. Akinfenwa in the wrong sport? 18 goals last season and 5 in 5 games he's played this season show otherwise.

He ran 70+ yards to get to Hylton so any wind up was prior to the final whistle. Clearly something happened though as Akinfenwa was enraged to run that far after an almost full game - doubt hes sprinted that far in one go in his life:cool1:.

I wouldn't take Hylton. You have different views of what you want from our club than me. I don't want to win at all costs, his dive in the play off semi last year proves his true character.

Edit: if you accept Hylton then I guess you'd be happy with Ainsworth as manager with all his gamesmanship? I certainly wouldn't be. They're cut from the same cloth.

Most people on here know i've wanted out from 4 years ago because of his shit tactics and crap team selections,i never wanted him to have the job in the first place considering he played under John Beck and whoever was manager at Wimbledon when he played there. I would love to see a change of manager but alas i'm in the minority of Wycombe fans so i have to accept he'll be our manager for years as he's best mates with our chairman.

Couple of points from the replay. Collins disallowed goal prob onside but can see why flagged as others are well off and he looks like he should have been off from how much space hes in once it gets to him.

We all know Hylton has a dive in him and like many forwards knows when hes been touched and can go down. The rules have been changed to punish dives so will be interesting to see what happens going forward as he has the rep and doesn't get a lot of closer decisions because of it - agree thats his fault - a may well get unfairly punished due to it. This one is a clear cut penalty - just from the defenders reaction and body language alone, he instantly points outside the box hoping contact was there but clearly inside. Absolute top class turn and flick over defender left him for dead. Quality........ We're happy to have him if others aren't. Piss poor penalty though lol .......Funnily enough in the morning on Twitter there were highlights of all the goals from some previous meetings and one was a Hylton pen in exactly the same spot.

Highlights don't show Hylton in goal celebration so I dont doubt he reacted as suggested. I'd shit myself if I was GGG and The Beast chased me round the pitch.

Collins is definately onside its whereas there were two in an offside positon who were presumably judged to be interfering with play. Agree about how referees treat Hylton. Once you have a rep its not easy to get rid. He should really try and stay on his feet more. The incident leading to the penatly could have been some goal. Great flick and turn and he basically had just the keeper to beat but chose to go down. Although unfairly challenged he looked for and got the pen. He is hardly the only player who does it.
Hylton is definately involved in the goal celebrations. He is a metre or so behind the rest with his yellow :err: boots. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some words said after the final whistle. Hylton was getting stick all game and no doubt got a bit when his missed the pen. I imagine the Wycombe players were slightly pissed at losing like that so no wonder they reacted and Akinfenwa is probably the last man you want to wind up. I'm sure Mick would have stepped in though!:box:

Edit: the image hosting on this forum is 'fragile' isnt it... link is a pic of Hylts giving the Wycombe bench a little something back.

He's in the celebrations in this video. 1 min 55 sec in. He must have jogged to their bench at the end of the celebrations.

Deserved all round. You incessantly taunt a player hes human. hes gonna react. If he gave it to the bench or that stand behind the bench he was getting it from the in the first place so what, fuck 'em. The Beast was lucky not to be sent off, although I'm glad he wasn't as it would have added more fuel to the Hylton fire and I can understand his reaction to Hylton as a firey bloke myself.

Ive never seen Wycombe as local rivals but always enjoyed beating them and enjoyed that one too. I liked the day out, fairly close, the town, the pubs the small terrace behind the goal was always bouncing. Its good to beat them but I'd be so pissed off if I was one of them.
