I nevere expected England to comeback and win the game after going 2-nil down. It was an amazing performance and they play more of team work now than their boring invidualistic game in years past.

A guid dram
Watched the Germany v England match the other night and some of the goals were superb. England played much better than Germany though they won't be arsed as they always turn it on when it counts unlike England usually. Some great attacking options England had but when Rooney comes back in, expect them to regress back to turgid shite at the tournament itself. ;)

Thought Henderson was excellent btw, the best I've seen him play all season, hopefully he is getting over his injury finally.

Roy has made 8 changes. There's going to be no cohesion going into this tournament.

He found a team that fought back against the world champs, stick with that, maybe tweak it a little. He's smashed it apart and started again for no reason.

Germany collapsed after 60 minutes, before which they were comfortably the better side. Our level of performance has been exaggerated beyond belief. No reason to assume this team couldn't play just as well, and well worth finding out.

Rooney in the studio tonight. Wonder how brave they'll be with their questions about him starting come the tournament.

Were they comfortably the better side before that period? We were growing in confidence well before the 60 minute mark and their sense of relief was palpable when they got the opener.

Good point.

As for Rooney, he'll have told them what questions are acceptable. He'll know they have to ask THE question and he'll have his answer well rehearsed .

This decision by Hodgson is the right call. Got to give a wide range of players run outs, otherwise how can he say they are worthy of spots. We might need them when the tournament comes around, so it also makes sense to see how they look in an England shirt, even if it is in a friendly.

Why run the XI from Germany into the ground again? Its how players get injured and fatigued. The 3 build up games are the time to find your best XI and run with it, when you'll have a better idea of what your squad will be going to France. Do Henderson, Cahill, Welbeck, Dier, Alli and Kane need another un out? I don't think so. They are on the plane anyway, another game tonight isn't going to change that. The guys like Drinkwater, Milner, Vardy, Sturridge, Walker, Lallana, they need to prove their worth for me.

Rooney in the studio, brilliant. Now it'll be The Wayne Rooney Show with maybe the occasional comment about England v Holland.

This is starting to piss me off. Rooney this, Rooney that, will he be in the side, will he be dropped, will he be captain, who fucking cares. How about we talk about England rather than this constant obsession over one player

I like this team tonight. Hodgson's gone for a diamond again and seeing Sturridge/Vardy together up front will be interesting.

I actually think we'll start with a diamond in the tournament. That selection is basically saying to Walcott that he's not good enough at the moment and the fact that Sterling won't have played any football going into the tournament is a worry as well.

A diamond for me is one way you can get Rooney into the side alongside Kane and not break up the Kane/Alli dynamic which could be a game changer for us.

Henderson is already on the plane?

The more I think about it, I'm edging towards starting with this as your attacking 6 vs Russia:

---------------Dier

Henderson-----Lallana

---------------Alli-------------

-----Kane------Rooney

If it's not working, you've always got the option of bringing off Lallana and putting a Welbeck/Vardy on higher up to make a front 3 whilst Alli tucks back in a little bit.

Edit: Lallana and Henderson both get far more stick than they deserve. As far as pressing goes, Henderson is excellent and Lallana's technique and ability to work out of tight situations is vastly underestimated.

Walcott picked up a dead leg yesterday. (But he's also not good enough.)
