A Netflix film about the Iranian embassy siege in Kensington in 198o starring Jamie Bell and a brilliant performance from Mark Strong, one of the better films i've seen on the subject. 7.5/10.

None of my business but what was it that cropped up?
Had to drop off a family member out of town and couldn't make it back in time for the start.

Definitely want to see it though as I'm into all things Russian at the moment, particularly of that time. Was watching something last night on the beeb about our reporting of Russia during the Cold War and the stuff that went on under Stalin, and been listening to a lot of Rachmaninov, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky recently too. Think I must've been a party member in a previous existence! :D

WHAT DID I JUST WATCH?? :eyes: Visually striking and unnerving, probably one of the best psychological horrors/mysteries I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t find it on Netflix but was on YouTube ;)

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Spider man Homecoming.

Very enjoyable, plenty of laughs and the best ‘end credit’ scene of any Marvel movie.

Left Behind (2014)
Supposed to be a disaster film it was more disastrous. I can't remember a worse film than this but it was so bad it was actually quite funny that made me stay until the end and the last 10 minutes were so ridiculous that had me and the missus laughing out loud. 3/10 for the :lol:s

Been watching a bad movies channel on Youtube recently and this guy does decent reviews of them; here is his opinion on Left Behind if you are interested mate.

Not a bad film with Matt Damon but nothing special either, not Ridley Scott's best film by a long way. 6/10.

Night train to Lisbon (2013)
really good film based on the book by Pascal Mercier, starring Jeremy Irons, Tom Courtney, Christopher Lee and Charlotte Rampling (the lawyer who came out of retirement in Broadchurch) 8/10
It's available on YouTube.

If you watch films on Youtube try The Lost Battalion it's based on a true story.

It was alright I suppose, had quite nice cinematography but I feel like it could have been done better. It felt like it's in a category with the likes of The Number 23 and Daybreakers where the idea is good but it falls a bit flat. 6/10.

I forgot tio say it's one of my favourite WWI films.

Never saw this one, tbh I don't watch many War films but my favourite World War 1 film is/was "All Quiet on the Western front" (the original from 1930 with Lew Ayres and not the remake from the 80's with "John Boy Walton") after the novel by Erich Maria Remarque, a German World War 1 Veteran himself. The Nazis banned his novel and burnt it as being "Anti-German" (which it wasn't because he only narrated what he has seen himself in one way or the other during this cruel war).

I've seen both versions and the original was by far the best the 80's one was bloody awful in comparrison.

Aye the original All Quiet is one of the best anti-war films ever made. This guy should've been a star out of it, what a face! Unfortunately he died a year after the film was released.

About Elly- Average Iranian mystery thriller about a young woman who goes missing. I am not sure how it can justify such a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB and Roger Ebert. It's not bad but it's not the masterpiece it is lauded to be. Similar to A Separation which is also directed by Asghar Farhadi- 6/10

Prevenge: Fun And rather surreal comedy horror about a woman who goes on a murder spree because her unborn baby tells her to.

MMA cross family drama with Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton and Nick Nolte. By far the best MMA film out there. It's just brilliant and Nolte is superb. 8.5/10.

Murder On The Orient Express [1974]

Great cast and a load of fun up until the ludicrous twist which was just too unbelievable to appear realistic.

Their finest. (2017)
Wartime British movie about the making of a propaganda film concerning the evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk, not for everyone though as there's no swearing, sex or violence! a sort of gentle rom/com drama with Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin & Bill Nighy.

The Mighty Ducks [1992]

Heard a lot about this film and it gets referenced a lot, so thought I'd finally watch it. Pretty funny in parts, with all the boxes ticked in terms of turning a bunch of misfits into contenders. Some of the child acting though was appalling!

The Human Factor [1979]

Spy 'thriller' based on a Graham Greene novel about a double agent working in the African department of British Intelligence. They root the mole down to two people it could be and we follow the double agent trying to get his ass out of there. Great British cast (Nicol Williamson, Derek Jacobi, John Geilgud, Richard Attenborough, Iman, and a few other notables), but this was all a bit flat and very much by the numbers.

5/10
