Ours is far tougher, which is why we won’t make the play-offs.

Northampton (A)
Rotherham (H)
Bristol Rovers (A)
AFC Wimbledon (A)
Scunthorpe (H)
Shrewsbury (A)
Portsmouth (A)
Blackburn (H)
Rochdale (A)

Every single team has something to play for and playing against 4 of the top 6.
I'll give you that - although can we expect our usual 5 goal drubbing from Charlton again?

Every team you're playing has something to fight for so I'd expect all of your last games to be bleedin' entertaining tbf

Our season is done now. 8 points off the play-offs, and 9 above the bottom 4, so we aren't going up or down. We have a couple of games in hand, but they're against Blackburn and Rotherham so not exactly bankers. I reckon we'll pick up around about 12-15 more points from our 9 games and finish on a max of 64 - a respectable total.

Home games:
MK Dons
Doncaster
Blackburn
Rotherham
Blackpool
Plymouth

Away Games:
Southend
Oldham
Bristol Rovers

Also, we aren't in particularly good form anymore. Eaves has gone off the boil up front which is a shame, but considering we were dead and buried 4 months ago a boring last 6 weeks of the season is actually pretty welcome.

Not related but do you think Karlan Ahearne-Grant has any hope of making it at Championship level, we were linked over the weekend. Looks a unit which generally helps.

Based on what we have seen so far, definitely not.

He's struggled in this division for goals and has only started scoring since dropping to L2.

I'll be fair to the lad though, he's played in some right guff sides and has remained in and around the first team for a few years under various managers so they must all have seen something in him.
I'm hoping this good form he is in will mean he returns with a new found confidence rather than a case of him finding his level.

Harry Kewell obviously likes him and there are strong rumours he may be our new manager soon enough so he would likely want to keep him, as would most Charlton fans in fairness myself included.

Highly unlikely! but if we play like we did on Saturday we have every chance of at least winning the game.

Indeed, I'm hoping we'll at least compete in these remaining games and give it a crack for the play-offs rather than just let the season fade out.

Will reserve judgement on us til after Thursday. Away at Blackburn so I expect us to get battered. We are 4 points off with a game in hand and no one seems to want to secure a play off spot though, so you can’t help but stay interested.

Last game might be very interesting too.

So, with 2 wins from 2 games - are we now the form team? Who knows? :dk:

This is the strangest play-off race I've seen. Loads of teams, from fifth place downwards who think they're complete pish but are still in with a chance of sneaking in. I reckon whoever stumbles into sixth place will probably shithouse a win against the demoralised third-placed team and get an undeserved place in the Wembley shoot-out.

At least your usual 3-0 prediction was correct!

Dan I don't mind the tosh you usually post but my predictions are the result of a complex scientific process and never wrong. You know full well I didn't predict a 3-0 to Oxford in this case, because obviously I knew exactly how this would play out.

it would help if you could get 3 points off Blackburn or at least a draw please. I am not too confident for our trip to Bradford so if you want to get into the playoffs ......

Would love a win but only the eternal optimist in me can see us scrapping a win, they're a lot better team than us I'd bite your hand off for a draw.

I can’t see why anyone would fear a trip to ours. If you play well you’ll win. I can’t overstate how poor we’ve been since Christmas although I can understand how people are shocked by it.

Fair play to Scunny for managing to lose £107k a week last season! I knew they'd be losing a bit but not that much.

Having invested in a project that the council lied about isn't helping.

Also overpaying over the hill wasters isn't helping either.

We should be out of sight here. Been absolutely dominate and should have scored more. Not sure how we didn’t get a penalty and Henry sent off though, blatant handball.

Lee, Lee, Lee Bowyer!

Can’t believe this is the same side, I really can’t. Complete and utter domination.

Watching the highlights of our game back and I still can't believe it. Denied a blatant pen with a handball on the line which would then result in a red card. They then get a pen for a player falling over.

Think we will be finally out of the play-offs come monday.

Bloody typical that Charlton suddenly turn into Barcelona right before we play them.
Today's win probably finishes Bury off.
Penalty looked soft, but I'll f*cking take it after the shitshow from the ref vs Plymouth. About time we had a dodgy decision go our way.

What a mixture. At points this was very exciting and at others it was rather quiet. That said, I almost feel disappointed we only scored four, especially with Carey missing a penalty again. Mind you my sister in law won over 200 quid on 4-0, so she was a bit nervous at the end.

In the first half it was fairly even, and Southend should have scored two, and I am still struggling to see how Cox (I think) managed to miss the ball entirely. Second half was pretty much one-way and we really should have scored more.

The difference for us was Bradley being back, so as soon as he was in the line-up I was confident. And our defence was much much more solid.

Fair play to the Southend fans and their drum, good show in the second half especially.

Boy is this getting exciting, and we were back to the team pre Bristol and Charlton.

I’d like to see it again, it wasn’t stonewall but it looked a genuine penalty to me.

Like you said though, about bloody time - we’ve had so many decisions against us this season it’s been unreal.

Awful game today though, we weren’t great. Especially in the 1st half. Bury were better than I thought they would be though tbf. I also thought they were a very honest team. Most teams that come to our place start tile tasting as soon as they go 1-0 up. Bury however didn’t and kept pushing with urgency, massive respect for that.

Like I posted earlier in the week - we will get our annual thrashing from Charlton soon then

Should spend more time scoring goals and less time complaining about referees. You don't get this shit from Lance.

What game were you at because we were not even close to abysmal, let alone being fairly even first half, completely destroyed by the one team on the pitch who looked interested.
I had the pleasure of watching this with Lord Football who at 2-0 said 'this has 5 or 6 written all over it.' It basically turned into a badge of honour game, you know where you do a 500+ mile round trip to see your team completely stuffed or travel all that way to see a 0-0 with zero shots on target. After the 4th we were willing Plymouth to get more, just to say 'I was there.'

It was Cox who missed that chance after Plymouth's keeper had made a decent save from Yearwood's shot. Apart from that what did we do? sweet FA, if it hadn't been for Plymouth not bothering for 20 minutes after the 3rd went in then it would and should have been more.

It was like some kind of training game where we just turned up and said to Plymouth 'have the ball, do anything you like to try and score because we are not going to stop you.' We lacked movement and any forward impetus, majority of the time didn't even look bothered about tackling and Wordsworth just stood about and watched everything go by.

I'll heap praise on Plymouth though, fantastic, pass and move, the intensity of the closing down all great. Thought the number 18 looked a very good player, granted he wasn't being marked or tracked by Wordsworth at any stage but he was a stand out.
After that comical 4th they than missed a penalty, had one cleared off the line and hit the post when from the away end it looked easier to score. 7-0 would have flattered Southend, hell 10-0 would have.
Hope Plymouth get in the playoffs, they'll be a match for anyone.

So other than the game you enjoyed your day then? My reason for saying it was reasonably even in the first half was that you had two very good chances and should have got both, especially the one that went across the goal just in front of us. Yes, we were the better side, but you should/could have scored those two. Second half your players looked bored and ours turned it on. Number 18, our right back, is Oscar Threlkeld and often goes unsung, so good spot. Big difference for us was having Bradley back, defence was not perfect, but certainly better than the last two games as a result. Why did Kightly not start, he was clearly your best player?

Hope your journey back was safe and not too long.

We are short in the goal-scoring department and it has been a problem for much of the season. We are not scoring enough for a play-off position and I agree that we need to score more. If we had done so while dominating the first half, I doubt that you would have got back into the game to secure a point. I thought you looked poor and in the first half gave us so much room, as you backed off. Robinson changed that in the second half and you pushed us back. We dropped off at least 10 yards and didn't play at the pace of the first half.

I will complain that we should have had penalties following x2 obvious handballs in the box and the Oxford penalty was given for the striker slipping into our fullback. No consequences for the referee and he'll continue to referee as shit as he has always been. So many complaints against him from so many matches and for so long and nothing happens.

We must beat Plymouth on Monday or the play-offs will become too difficult to achieve, as games run out. I had us down for a mid-table (9th to 16th) finish this season and we might still do it. For us to still be in a play-off spot is surely a testament to how poor League 1 must be this season. We have certainly not been lucky.

Hopefully, Daws can change it around, but it looks too late now. As I said on this site at the start of the season, Alexander should have gone at the end of last season after the play-off debacle against Millwall. Hopefully, this season has not been wasted and we make the play-offs. Looks unlikely now.

Felt sorry for Bury --No way that was a penalty. You also played like you wanted to win so fair play to that. You also wer'nt the worst team we have seen down here this season-- That goes to either Oldham,Plymouth or more recently Northampto Town.

We're the worst team in the football league mate, you were good but we didn't give you even half a game.

Don’t get me wrong, you were awful but we were superb.

Some of our passing moves were top drawer, all 4 of our goals were class and we were playing with an intensity we never saw under Robinson, just wish Roland accepted his resignation first time round weeks ago. I would feel a lot better about making the play-offs.

Based on that yesterday, I’m not sure how you’re going to get out of the bottom 4.
