Bit like vikring and enzo with us

Ok even you can’t be this dumb. I’m going to go out on a limb and instead say you are the King of Irony.

I can be positive about Mansfailed, you are having a great season one of the club’s best in the past half century.

Yeah. In the 80s I remember you struggling around the 2000 mark.
As did Swindon. I recently saw highlights of a game at the County Ground in 1984 when the gate was 2,500. Attendances across the board were appalling in the eighties, with Everton getting 8,000 and Middleborough averaging 4,000. Not sure of the relevance of your point in the current context.

Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Hull were in Humberside for 20 years and Grimsby and Scunthorpe went back to Lincolnshire, Hull back to Yorkshire.

I was technically born in Humberside, not happy about that. Hateful idea.

Its just a bit slow in lincolnshire big area but not lots of infrastructure ,no heavy industry as such ,besides my favourite place in the whole county the ruston bucyrus plant love them
Loads of tileyards and a steelwork industry that has outlived Sheffield. What infrastructure is lacking in Lincs that Notts has?

Absolutely battered Newport last night but, yet again, our inability to convert chances into goals let us down - their keeper made some brilliant saves though.

That is one dreadful pitch.

Weird side Newport, capable of beating the very best, yet losing to the very worst.

Should we vacate the division it will become the “Newport division” as both them and us are the longest serving members here, 5 years to date

Doesn’t matter.

I always thought us and Newport have been down here the longest.

Guessing that could actually be you. I remember clinging on for dear life for a 0-0 at home to you in the first home game we had back up here, so you’ll have been down here at least as long.

What happened at macc though? Surprised by that

I thought Morecambe were the longest serving L2 side ?

Hardly battered last night. Thought Swindon were the better team and played some good football at times. Losing Labadie and Matt turned the game in your favour, game was even until then and we finished the game quite strongly.

Pitch is crap for the second half of the season I know but it is possible to play football on it as you lot showed last night. It’s an easy excuse to blame the pitch when visitors get turned over, like Mansfield.

Good point at Rodney Parade last night. Reports suggest if we had a decent goalscorer we would have taken 3 points. Keeper Day had a stormer.

With Exeter's defeat at Macclesfield last night it kind of keeps us in the play-off race, and also brings Oldham very much back into it. We are away at Oldham on Saturday, which now becomes a much bigger game.

Exeter playing FGR on the last day also has to be a factor taken into consideration. It could be an exciting play-off race for those last 2 places!

Lincolnshire as a whole, it feels like a frontier with its abysmal infrastructure - I’m not going any further in this football related thread though!

Lincoln itself isn't too bad, bar the road network. Whilst the Council continue to create a building site the size of a City for the 86th year in a row with various construction projects, they're forgetting about the road network (admittedly the new bypass is currently being built but that should've happened years ago) and car parks. So after spending an hour doing 3 miles, you then find that there's no-where to park even if the new bus/rail hub has added 1,000 spaces.

Take the Uni as an example. It's ballooned to 15,000 students They keep adding and adding buildings, which is great, don't get me wrong, but whereas other Cities have a Uni Campus and main roads go around it, we've decided to build the Uni around the existing road network.

Scunthorpe (steelworks) and Immingham (petrochem) is very industrial, though. Lincoln's more business like.

But yeah, in terms of Lincolnshire itself there is tonnes of empty space building wise but it's a massive area. It's basically just countryside for the 30-35 miles between Lincoln and Scunthorpe up the A15.

Got to remember that Lincolnshire is about 4 times the size of Nottinghamshire, 50% bigger than Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire put together and the second biggest County in the UK behind Yorkshire.

Ah yeah of course, can't believe I forgot this - my Dad worked at Simon Storage on Immingham docks for his entire working life haha.

Hi mate, please can you stop chatting about football in the Lincs/Notts infrastructure and industry thread?

haha - I had noticed things had got a bit wildly off-topic.

I have nothing to offer sadly, I've never been to Nottingham, Mansfield, Lincoln or even Grimsby! I've never lived by the looks of it!

I can’t believe the city of Nottingham is being lumped in with any other town or city in the East Midlands. Incredible stuff

We just had an off day and went on a run of losing to crap sides away, we actually have a decent record at Newport.

I’ve had a night out in Grimsby/Cleethorpes, and I can definitely confirm it’s more weird than a night out in all others mentioned.

Cleethorpes is an alright night out, I wouldn't touch Grimsby with a bargepole though.

The good thing about Cleethorpes is that like Mansfield it's shit, but at least it's shit and has a beach/seafront.

Nottingham is alright, but has a bit of an inflated ego of itself. 4th tier city for sure (1st London, 2nd Manchester/Edinburgh, 3rd Bristol/Brum/Glasgow/Leeds, 4th Newcastle/Liverpool/Sheffield/Notts/Brighton imo).

You’ve posted that knowing pretty much everybody is going to disagree with at least a couple of cities. Shame on you

I agree re Nottingham though, but I’m bewildered putting Newcastle, Liverpool in the same ‘tier’ I imagine that’s pretty unpopular.

Mansfield is unfairly judged in my little bit bias opinion, the town centre is fair for criticism but a big area of it is getting more middle class by the day weirdly enough, a lot nicer than Cleethorpes though :bl:

Liverpool is the best night out in the country.

London definitely isn’t.

Are you saying Liverpool is better or worse than Newcastle? Much of a muchness to me.

Liverpool is the best night out in the country.

London definitely isn’t.
London is great for a night out, but alas my tier system is based on a number of factors.

Where’s that Yeovil fan that stuck up for Mansfield? I’ll appreciate his input again, it’s bloody Tory heartland now ya know?

SoC I’m saying Newcastle and Liverpool are far ahead of Nottingham, although I have only ever lived in Notts.
