We need to get the first goal, I can see us doing what we did at Exeter. MK will have to come at us and with the pace we have in Walker and Hamilton then hopefully we can get the first on the counter. Are MK's defenders quick?

First goal is going to be vital, If we get it they need 2. If we go here and try to defend a 0-0 for 90 minutes then the only place we'll be on our way too is Exeter/Newport next Thursday.

We last went up on 79 points.the league is wank

We could still be on 41 points though, like we were over Christmas

Just imagine going up on false money, like er munto

We won 14 and drew 3 out of our last 18 games that season.

Now THAT was a promotion campaign.

Virtually all money in football is false. Have Mansfield raised the money themselves to pay their relatively highly paid squad?

As Wooderson says, it's all very well Mansfield going in with the mentality to win. See what they do though if it's all level with ten minutes remaining. Mansfield are draw specialists so it would only be right for them to secure promotion with one.

I said the same thing to my mate them needing to go for the win could play into our hands and we could have a repeat of the Exeter game

What a game MK v Mansfield is looking. Proper head to head promotion shoot out between two good footballing sides. Early goal for MK and it could turn into an absolute goal fest. Like a league 2 version of the City v Spurs game.

If we don’t start Aneke this time then I’m not sure what our gameplan will be. Most games in the last few months have been ‘if we’re in need of a goal bring him on’ but with us having to win we should surely start him with Agard. Then again that will mean Tisdale dropping Harley which is starting to become a pipe dream.

I’d doubt it - which is my point.

Though I dare say it’s obviously not as ridiculous as the munto farce. But as fans what can you do

Think I might need to go for a pint tonight to calm my nerves and it’s bloody 3 days away

Well then. Just a couple of things to fight for now in the promotion race, plus a little bit of playoff reordering.

MK Dons play Mansfield. Mansfield are promoted automatically with either a win or a draw. MK dons will be promoted automatically if they win. Should Bury fail to win their final game then the winner here can take second place, not that it matters.

The ordering of FGR, Tranmere and whoever missed out from Mansfield and MK Dons is all to play for. Goal difference means Mansfield are likely to finish 4th if they lose while MK Dons are guaranteed 4th if they draw. If MK Dons lose though then FGR could finish 4th, technically also Tranmere though it's unlikely. Failing that, then FGR and Tranmere will almost certainly finish 5th and 6th but who gets home advantage in the second leg depends on results on Saturday.

Newport travel to Morecambe. If they win then they're in the playoffs, and while it's mathematically possible for them to finish as high as 5th, they'd need to win by 21 goals so we'll just say they'll finish 7th if they win. If they draw then they're at least guaranteed to finish above Colchester, Carlisle and Stevenage but Exeter would take 7th spot with a win at FGR.

If Newport lose then Exeter only need a draw to go above them, however Colchester could go above both if they beat Lincoln by two goals, (Carlisle or Stevenage would need to win by six or nine respectively to do the same)

If Newport lose at Morecambe and Exeter lose at FGR then Colchester would claim the final playoff place if they win at Lincoln. If they don't then it's down to Carlisle to win at Yeovil and finally Stevenage to win at home to Cheltenham. Goal difference between them all is close enough for an overturn to be plausible (e.g. Colchester beat Lincoln 1-0 but Carlisle beat Yeovil 5-0) but not likely.

TLDR;

  • Winner goes up when MK Dons host Mansfield.
  • Mansfield go up if it's a draw.
  • Bury could still finish 3rd.
  • FGR and Tranmere and whoever misses out on the autos could finish in almost any order between 4th and 6th.
  • Newport will finish 7th if they win.
  • Exeter can claim it if they don't.
  • Colchester, Carlisle and Stevenage are waiting in the wings if both lose.
  • Everyone fighting over that last playoff place is away bar Stevenage.
  • Everyone's opponents have nothing to play for bar Exeter.
  • Newport's goal difference means they have to win on points.
  • Exeter have the best GD, only Colchester are close enough to overturn it with an 'ordinary' result.
  • Any other turnaround in goal difference would require a big result somewhere.
  • Carlisle (famously utterly toothless) have currently scored the most, should goal difference end level.

8 changes to our team today.

Bizarrely Norwood and Monthe playing. Assume they’re the type who just want to play every game. Perkins playing to get some match sharpness id imagine.

I’d have rested Davies and those two as key players. Unsure why Nelson and Mullin don’t even make the bench.

Looks like you've been on the beach for a while!
Did the same when we won the Conference. I think we just put so much into getting across the line then afterwards have very little left in the tank.

We always seem to perform when there's something riding on a game, not quite the case when there isn't.

Or maybe we're just trying to screw over Exeter for beating us in the play-offs last year?

Can't imagine that neither us or Newport score in the second half. Hopefully we both do without reply.

Also, if Exeter or Newport are going to score, can they get on with it please? Put us out of our misery nice and early, no late goals.
