I keep looking at the four sides in the playoffs and can’t make my mind up who will make the final or even be promoted.

Right now I’m thinking Mansfield will have enough to get over the line in the playoffs. It will all depend on how quick they put the disappointment of Saturday behind them. No disrespect to Newport who have done brilliantly to charge into that final spot but can’t see them overcoming Mansfield over two legs. What Newport will have is the home advantage of their pitch and problems it may cause Mansfield.

Our game against Forest Green should be a belter. Up untill four years ago the two clubs had never met in a competitive match but in the time since there has been seven meetings which has seen some real battles most of which FGR have edged. (Forest Green 4 wins, 2 draws, Tranmere 1 win). Tranmere have now lost four straight games against our play off opponents. This season saw a Forest Green double over Tranmere, however I can’t call it between us. Despite all the hysteria over our recent game and Forest Green gamesmanship they did play some excellent football in the early stages.

I never expected to see us in the playoffs again so soon, Im just delighted to see my club on the way back and being competitive again. I’m waiting to hear back from my boss with regards to getting a day off for the away leg at the new lawn. Can’t see it being a problem. Is the traffic still bad on the way up to the ground on that hill?! also is there anywhere to have a pre match nerve settler? Chris FGR FGR Stroud

I’m going for a Mansfield v Tranmere final with the solitary goal being the difference. Who wins? Fuck knows.

#1 Traffic up hill to TNL will be slow, very slow.
And will be same going down same hill at end of game.
#2 Pubs in Nailswoth town centre: all recommended. If you want food and are in a car I'd recommend Egypt Mill. Big pub and big car park. Reasonably priced food.

Name: The Britannia
Address: Cossack Square, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, GL6 0DG Rating:
7.0/10 [Recommended. Regular pub for football fans]

Name: Egypt Mill
Address: Stroud Road, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, GL6 0AE Rating:
6.0/10 [Recommended]

Name: Tipputs Inn
Address: Bath Road, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, GL6 0QE Rating:
5.3/10

Name: The Village Inn
Address: Bath Road, Nailsworth, Stroud, Gloucestershire, GL6 0HH Rating:
5.9/10 [Recommended]

Name: The Weighbridge
Address: Longfords, Minchinhampton, Stroud, Gloucestershire, GL6 9AL Rating:
8.6/10 [Best food in district but not recommended for a large number of football fans]

Mansfield won’t go up, we’ve been fucked for a while.

Get them at home and we’ll have enough to beat them, however that paddy field will be a real tough game for us.

If the players can deal with the come down of potentially being in league 1 now to having to endure the ultimate booby prize of Newport then fair play to them

Then catch the ten past seven bus up the hill to save the legs.

That’s what we did for the rearranged game and used free bus pass so jobs a good un.

The only time I have ever cheered a Luton win !

Meant we were all but promoted!
Yeah yourselves and Bristol City were on another level to the rest of us that year, we stumbled into the play offs and came up against Kevin Keegan’s Fulham and no one gave us a prayer but the home play off leg against them was still to this day the greatest atmosphere I’ve ever experienced at Blundell Park, just thinking about it now I’m getting goosebumps, great times. :bg1:

Think we both had about 50 points by Xmas but drew a lot after that so "only" got 88.

Think we won at your place 1-0 with a goal after 30 seconds !

Yes Fulham sneaked into the play offs then sacked Ray Wilkins before the play offs..

Apparently Rugby is being played at Newport the night before lol? It’s such a ridiculous advantage that shithole.

I actually find it near impossible to think that we could win the play-offs, I mean if we manage not to get battered on that ridiculous pitch on Thursday we might get to the final but Wembley alone is too much pressure for our lot of expensively assembled players.

Love to be proved wrong!!!

It’s better news than that. We’ve managed to arrange a charity rugby game for Weds evening which will be in aid of an ex Wales hooker with MND. Prior to that game there is a touch rugby tournament too so will have fellas and kids running all over the pitch with their big muddy boots for about 4 hours. Weather forecast is shit too so pitch will cut up a treat fingers crossed. Happy days, see you all Thursday.

Hopefully we’ll get a fair ref this time, that’d be a start. The challenges that went unpunished from the Newport donkies was ridiculous.

So know we’ll get battered here

Yeah but to get their own back Mansfield are gonna leave the sprinklers on all week at Field Mill and get the second leg postponed until all their players legs have recovered from your heavy pitch. :bg:

FGR Stroud had listed the pubs, all pretty decent I usually go in the Village Inn next door to the chippy.

Do me a favour. If I recall Benning had to be hooked off at HT before being sent off, committed numerous fouls on Willmott who was taking the piss. Wipe the shit out of your eyes. It’s the usual crap we get from teams well beaten home or away. Bout time your lot grew a pair. Looking forward to Flitcrofts excuses this week - bloke is clueless.

To be fair, it was the Newport game where Rose was so badly injured they had to feed him through a straw for a few weeks....

Anyway, best of luck - leave the noncey stuff out though ie scabs etc - it’s degrading yourself.

Can’t see it myself. Think we will run out of juice. Fancy Dale will have his crayons out later this month.

Newport are the team no-one wants in the semi's - in good form, momentum, at least one game on a poor pitch and an awkward style of play. Top of the form tables, too.

Mansfield have the best players but you wonder whether psychologically it's going to be tough to pick themselves up after the disappointment of Saturday. Not in great form over 6-10 games either.

Tranmere are in the same situation as us last season and might find it tough, although they have Norwood and we didn't have anyone like that last season. Not in the best of form and carrying injuries.

FGR in similar form to Newport and will be pleased to avoid them because they're the sort of team they generally can't handle. Only question mark over FGR is whether they'll beat themselves. Out of all the top 7 this season, they're the ones who always seem to drop a bollock.

Never recovered from our injuries either, partly due to a poor January transfer window.

Would it be fair to say Mansfield are the only side going into the play-offs under any sort of pressure?

FGR, Newport and Tranmere have pretty much all exceeded fan expectations to reach the play-offs so I suppose this is a bonus for those clubs.

Hopefully, for those of us staying in the basement, it seems like Radford won’t sack Flitcroft even if he does fuck up their biggest ever budget.

One less to worry about next season!

Immense pressure, and they have buckled under pressure every time this far.

Plus side is the first leg being away, and with tickets still not on sale and it being you know, Newport away on a Thursday - the following not be huge.

We probably have less pressure on us now in fairness. Aside from spanishstags manic optimism (for some reason) nobody really expects us to go up.

Added to the fact that strong rumours are that he isn’t liked at board level and will be sacked should we not go up.

If we didn’t go up I’d be completely 50/50 on whether to keep him or not
