Everyone seems to think they've had a bad day... which is grand for us. We won't go up automatically but I'm feeling confident on a playoff spot now.

Still in with a shout after 7 points from 9, if we had an away form half as good as our home we'd be challenging the top 2! Three loses in 2016 but need 6 wins in 10 to do it IMO, tough ask but sounds like we're going to give it a go!

Maintained our advantage despite resting players today, one game less for every one to play. I think 5 or 6 wins from our remaining fixtures and we are up !

Considering how shit the rest of us are, 75-80 points could well be top 2 this season. Difficult to see anyone outside the top 2 reaching 80 points at the moment

The league is gash this year. Any other year and we would be pegged back as we have only picked up 4 points from 9 yet we are still well clear.

January seems to have unsettled everyone in the promotion race bar us and Wigan. Posh lost Washington and have plummeted. Walsall lost Smith. Gillingham have been unable to bring in quality reinforcements for the injuries they have. Burton have stuttered a little after losing Hasselbaink. Mowbray seems to have unsettled his squad by bringing in a load of over-the-hill mercenaries. Maybe the difference in resources starting to swing the league in our favour again, but so far our best addition has been the promotion of Mahlon Romeo to the senior squad. Very encouraged regardless of what happens between now and May.

Think this is more down to the fact that the difference in finances between the two leagues is so big. Bar Wigan, and to a lesser extent Cov, ourselves and Barnsley, the clubs in this league are extremely susceptible to losing their better players at short notice and don't have the resources to put together strong squads.

Gillingham have been unable to bring in quality reinforcements for the injuries they have.

We were fine at the end of January, it was the injuries in February which have killed off any automatic thoughts we had. It's very hard to get like for like replacements for the players that got injured though, seeing as the main two were the best in the league in their positions - where would we get a player as good as Dack from on loan?! A Championship club would snap them up immediately ahead of us. Maybe we're victims of our own success a little bit.

The two that have replaced Egan and Dack aren't TERRIBLE - George Williams is a full international with Wales, and El-Abd has had a pretty good career around this league and higher, but it's just that neither are anywhere near the quality of the players they're trying to replace. Doesn't help that our right back can't get fit lately, our most recognised forward has been out since December and now our captain is out after some Oldham thug took him out a couple of weeks back. It's hard to see how it's possible for us to stay in the play-offs now, let alone win them.

Well, solid week for Burton, picking up 4 points from 2 away games. Not far off the predicted play off line, so they are close to extending their season at the very least. Wigan slip back a bit, sitting 4 points back after back to back draws. They still look good bets for the top 2, but will need to step it up to haul Burton in, especially if Burton can win their game in hand on Tuesday.

Gillingham are really hurting through injuries, clearly its affected them, only picking up 1 point from 2 away games this week. Should have it a little easier next week, bit of pressure on their home game with us I think. Walsall continue to slip. I think their fans have a point, O'Driscoll has seemingly ballsed things up good and proper for them. Easy to say a couple of wins and they make the play offs, they aren't winning. Can they make the play offs? Looking less and less likely at the moment. Millwall are heading up the table fast, 4 points and 0 goals conceded from 2 home games, good work for them. Some tricky fixtures to come, especially next Saturday away at Swindon. Barnsley just keep rolling, the run they've been on is incredible. They are now in the top 6 and look here to stay. Have they peaked too early or can they carry this on until the end of the season?

Coventry drop out of the top 6 for what I think is the first time this season. Dear oh dear, what on earth has gone wrong there, looked so promising for the first few months of the season. Is that it for them? Could well be. Bradford missed an opportunity to stake their claim for that 6th spot by only getting 1 point from Colchester and Bury. Big game for them on Tuesday against the leaders. Will clearly need to improve if they want promotion. Port Vale got 4 points from their last 2 and are right in the play off hunt. The fact that they've played 1-2 more than everyone else will not help them though. Southend only managed 1 point from 2 games against 2 relegation battlers. Not good enough for a promotion contender. 2 tough games next up, have they blown their chance?

Not much change since last week at the top. Burton and Wigan look good bets for the top 2. Play offs are changing. Walsalls manager and Gills injuries are dragging them down and Barnsley and Millwall could soon overtake them. Can any of the 4 chasing teams catch up with the 2 stuttering teams before the season finishes? Can Gills and Walsall keep hold of their play off spots?

If you had got your shit together you could have joined the top two party. It's fizzling out again for you it seems. Time for tango man to exit stage left.
We should be in the play offs minimum. He is hundred percent Bolton bound at the end of the season.

The only positive thing for us at the moment is if, and it is a big if, we can stay in a play off spot, then Dack, Egan and McDonald should be back in time for them.

All having had a while to recover from fatigue and whatever else - IF we make the play-offs with a modicum of form then we could be ok and do well, but it's a big if as you say.

I must ask, why do you feel you should be play-offs? I'd have thought there were at least 8 or 9 times that most would fancy above Southend based on squad & manager quality. Possibly the momentum from a Wembley win would carry you a bit but I couldn't honestly say I would have expected to see you any higher than midtable.

because everyone above us keeps dropping points.... I never expected us to be there at the start of the season but the way it's panned out we should be in there

It's based on number/quality of attempts on goal for and against v goals scored and conceded. If you out perform your rating you are having either a lot of luck, a great keeper or deadly strikers.
