So, your side is middle of the road, too good to get involved with the crap at the bottom but too inconsistent to be troubling the top, this is the thread for you.

Yes, 12th is much closer to the playoffs than the relegation zone, but who believes they'll end up here.

The usual suspects of Wimbledon, Cambridge and morecambe are present, surprise inclusions for differing reasons in Mansfield and Luton.

Always good to have a thread for us that won't be going up or down

Two wins in a row and four unbeaten and our lot now getting all giddy and talking of play-offs. Until we get our home form sorted out, we're not going anywhere.

I called 8th before the season started and I don't think we'll be far off that.

We invariably seem to miss this area of the table out, the perception is that we are always either pushing promotion or battling against relegation, nothing in-between...but then again with the play-offs and two relegation places there aren't many that wouldn't be involved in either?

I predicted us to finish 13th and see no reason to change that opinion. We have been in a false position for some time now and reality is dawning.

January will determine whether we end up here or the promotion thread. Looking at the fixtures we now have, if we can't get back into the top 7 by the end of the month then we're probably not going to.

We're like you, show what we can do at home but let down by an incredibly shit home record.

After how shit we were last season I'd have been thrilled with this at the halfway stage, but still frustrated about how we've been of late

Just our home form that will keep us in this thread. We still continue to set up at home like we are playing away and have won 3 home games this season, and they were against Crawey, Hartlepool and Newport.

A lot of work needed but we are not too far off being a good side. Couple of additions and Murray to be abit more adventurous at home with his team selection and tactics.

All that said I'd of taken being in this position last May.

We're almost certain to be here.

Got a handful of decent players in Corr, Berry and Dunk which means we'll win enough to stay away from the drop but too many poor players and an unbalanced squad to seriously sustain a play off challenge.

Frustrating - we've got a top 7 budget and we should be getting in the play offs at least.

The mid table thread? I don't really see the point, but what I do see is a Mansfield fan who has given up hope of getting into the play offs and after getting beat off Accrington Stanley, can you really blame him?

January will decide. Our fixture list is average, but if we haven't both kept hold of Simpson and dispensed with Hendon by the end of the month, we'll be taking the fast train to 15th.

We've still got a shot of the playoffs imo, you only need 70-73 points which we were on target for in our first 23, as long as we sort out these petty stupid goals we can get to that top 7.

I think we'll be dipping in and out of here sporadically this season, games in hand are screwing us over at the moment as we don't really know where we are in the league compared to teams 2 games ahead of us. As of right now, though, we are technically mid-table, so hello for now.

We always get beat by the tin potters of Accrington, it's an English law, and in fairness they've beaten a lot of sides.

I haven't given up, but if our manager keeps up with the same negative shit at home it soon will be

If Mansfield lose on Saturday and Pools beat Mansfield and win our 4 games in hand on them , we will draw level with them , so yeah , for us teams languishing in mid table this IS a good thread

Nice spelling, and use of commas and full stops. :bg:

Mid-table thread?.....how incredibly sombre and lacking in ambition.

Oh no ladies and gentlemen, I will have no part in my club challenging for mid-table obscurity, on the contrary they will be going all guns blazin' to win the 8th division title!

C'mon

Just a repeat of what we've done so far... 37 points from 23 games in the first half the season, should be enough to make top 7.

I think we will make top 7. Automatic is a big ask but if we bring in a couple of quality players this month, you never know

I think we can probably bed down here now, along with the other CUFC (my second team in L2), Mansfield, Morecambe and Luton.

What are the up-sides to "season over by February?" We can start thinking about home kits for next season.

I'll wait for us to play our games in hand before I officially declare us a part of this thread but I do think it's coming.

I'm not putting us in here while we're 3 points off the playoffs with 2 games in hand.

If it gets worse then yeah I'll put our roots down in here, but not yet.

Good idea Alan. I propose reverting back to proper stripes ala 1977-79, but the strip we had when we got to Wembley twice in a row was nice too.

I'll agree on that, I'm at least happy that we're still within a shout for the play offs rather than having to pretend to be excited at battling for meaningless mid table positions.

There's that famous HG optimism

Going for the most optimistic poster award?

I feel that this thread has Carlisle written all over it.
