Never said you were. All I'm saying is that's it's easy for club's to manipulate the COVID situation.Lets be honest the EFL are unlikely to investigate the club's calling game's off.

Did they investigate Wimbledon last year when they had their game called off with Wigan?

Bit pathetic from Wimbledon that statement to be honest and also a bit stupid, not hard to work out that bigger squads are more likely to result in more covid cases.

Think the statement hits the nail on the head to be honest.

You can do all you like to avoid getting COVID (wearing masks, hardly going out/social distancing ) but still catch it as my Mum and others have found out..

I mean the players should be careful about what they are doing but can you stop everything single staff member going out or doing the shopping etc?

But yes there might be teams taking the pee but the EFL and PL have set rules and limits to include injuries.

I wonder how many of these teams that call game's off would do so if they had to forfeit the points .My guess is that they would find 14 fit player's!!!

With all due respect, Wimbledon called off a game last season for the same reasons and also voted to end a season early so they didn’t get relegated.

We really don’t need lecturing from anyone at that club.

Wimbledon chairman just upset as he cares more about the income two sold out away ends would bring than player welfare.

For the record, I don’t actually disagree with the sentiment but don’t appreciate the insinuation that we are trying to cheat the system when we played with a weakened side last week against a much better side than Wimbledon and this is the first time in 2 season that we’ve ever had to call a game off because of covid.

A fair point but then that is down to the authorities to apply different rules .

I’m gobsmacked that clubs are actually stating they’ve applied to call games off due to Covid AND injuries.

when the fuck did injuries have any consequence on calling a game off.

Just before we had our three games called off we was down to 12 outfield players due to a horrendous injury list.
We then had a outbreak of the virus and a sceptical person would say we are fortunate.
It is what it is not ideal but i think teams use it to there advantage

Thing is that is what the EFL/PL say - you can have a game off due to lack of players caused by COVID and injury so clubs are just applying the rules set.

I am sure there are a few niggles included but if it’s allowed then fair game .

Today Wolves aren't playing having spent recent days telling everyone how their players are all doubled vaccinated ...

Seems they have 2/3 new injuries.

Well at least the EFL have rules this year. We were told unequivocally in a fans forum last year that there was no set rules, and it was up to each club to decide. The only thing the EFL said was that they could retrospectively punish anyone taking the mickey. Lowe was strongly on the view that some clubs were indeed taking the mickey.

So it might well be imperfect, but at least the EFL have given a line.

Our game is on tomorrow as things stand. We’ve had 16 players and 7 staff out with Covid, but have trained a couple of days ago. Here’s hoping.

It's unfortunate that we have had more game's postponed than most. However it's not really acceptable that we have to play so many games in such a short period of time through no fault of our own.It brings into question the integrity of the competition.

Between Feb 3rd and March 3rd 2021 the EFL made us play 8 league games so don't expect any sympathy from them.
It's why we were relegated, we only took 6 points from 24.

Yes no doubt that we will just have to get on with it!! The problem is no one knows how many more game's are going to be postponed!

Is it the first game called off where it's due to our Covid issues?

We shouldn't have played last season at Oxford but did.

Our local reporter has said it's postponed at Lincoln's request.
He says no covid cases in our squad.

I would have liked to have played and got it out of the way but at least it's not like losing a Saturday game. It might be a bit warmer when it's rearranged.

Whilst I agree with you the EFL won’t do that with the 2022 season starting on 30th July because of Qatar. If a lot more get cancelled in Jan/Feb I can the League being decided on PPG.

Wimbledon were one of many happy to void the season when we (Sunderland) were one point off play offs and a few away from the autos so they get no sympathy from me as does any of the teams happy to void the season (Tranmere were the ones royally screwed that year and Peterborough). Also they got a point at the SOL last year when covid spread and 8 of our players went down with it on the day of the game and that should never have went ahead.
