Gutting way to lose it last touch of fucking game before pens. Wasn’t a sending off (but obviously I’m biased). Have to say though that Wednesday finishing on 96 points deserve promotion, as much as I hate to admit it. Been a good season for us after the shitshow last term so let’s see if we can build on it.

You’ve got a top manager in Duff, reckon you’ll only get better under him. Also nice to see some of our ex players like Cadden, Kitching and Norwood doing well for you.

Thankfully we won't be getting pumped 5-0 away to Wednesday next season.

Obviously Wednesday deserved to go up having finished on 90+ points. They should have expected to be promoted at the start of the season though, so it's not really a fairytale.

As others have said, it's good to get rid of some of these ridiculous budgets in league 1. Just need to get rid of Bolton and Derby next season and it'll be a relatively fair league. No way should teams like that be at level 3.

Best of luck to Wednesday. I think they're going to need a fair bit of work in the summer but they should have a decent budget.

Yup, congratulations to Wednesday, that red looked dodgy for Barnsley and they must be gutted to lose it like that, but better to lose that way than what we did v Sunderland last season and not turn up, give away a shit early goal and be on the back foot the entire game.

But yeah, over the course of the season then I think that’s a fair result, but I’m sure Barnsley will be right up there again next season.

Congrats Wednesday. Thought it could have gone either way today but deserved over the whole season (well definitely the first 36 or so games!).

Barnsley played really well today with 10 men and were unlucky today. If they hold that team together then they’ll be there or thereabouts next season.

If they keep Duff, I think Barnsley win League 1 next season.

Have heard that Huddersfield are sniffing though, so they could have a job on their hands keeping them.

Gutted for Barnsley today - the penalty decision and red card were shocking errors by the ref - but credit to Sheffield Wednesday. Over the season they were the 3rd best team in the League and any team getting 96 points in a season should be going up.

Glad Carlisle are coming up. Good allocation, presumably they’ll offer both stand + terracing.

You write so much crap.

Our day will come.

Listen I'll be straight with you. U bigging dipswitch up and going on about your millions of fans when in reality you;re just a lower league club that has got a few quid. You;re a nothing club compared to Wednesday,Bolton,Charlton,Derby and ourselves. You've got no history. So enjoy your brief time in the championship and go and bore the Championship clubs with your drivel about hot massive you are.
We’re nor ‘massive’. Nobody said we were.

We’re as big as the clubs you’ve mentioned though. Definitely bigger than Charlton, Bolton and Pompey. I’d also chuckle at your suggestion we have no history. Clearly you really are a kid if you think that.

Congrats to the Owls who over a long season deserved to be promoted. Cruel on the Tykes but I expect them to get promotion next season
With Wigan and Reading in a mess finance wise the teams coming down probably won't be a threat so I agree.

In fact wouldn't be surprised if Bolton are 2nd with Derby 3rd tbh.

The red wasn`t a shocking decision, possibly debatable but not clear cut bad.

Was a pen for Barnsley but think that is a red in the current era....

Yes on first look can see why it was given and VAR probably wasn't going to rule it over.

The penalty was one of those that ought to get given a lot where the defender misses the ball and catches an attacker.

The red is one of those, if ref gives a yellow on field there’s not enough to change it to a red and vice versa. Shame given the magnitude of the occasion I think the ref would have been more sensible to go with a yellow and have it overturned if it was a clear error.

Feel for Barnsley as that is gutting but well done to Wednesday who deserve to go up on 96 points alone.

They must be one of the favourites but I think that depends on what players they can keep hold of as well. He’s a very good manager but if they lose Anderson and 1 or 2 others to championship clubs it could be a different story next season. I think it’s the same for all of us. We’ve got to somehow replace Trafford and Bradley.

I do think this will be the best chance for a few of us to aim for autos for quite a while. Some of the bigger clubs have gone back up in the last 2 seasons. Derby still have restrictions, Wigan have a dramatically reduced budget this season… plus I think the likes of Ipswich/Sunderland and potentially Wednesday are/were better than Blackpool and Reading. And we don’t know what shape they’ll be coming into the new season in. We’ve got a bigger budget this season (apparently we had the 9th biggest overall playing budget this season)… but we were paying very little for Trafford and Bradley who were key performers so I’m not sure how that will even itself out.

On the season itself, Wednesday deserved to go up so well done to them. Commiserations to Barnsley, Duff has done a good job there this season and they'll be up there again next.

I reckon I'm one of the few who thought it was a red. The ball has been prodded away by Gregory to be fair, but he's flown into the challenge, basically leaning all the way back when there's contact, and he goes over the man on the follow through. It's pretty out of control and one of those challenges where the player wants to leave a bit on the opposition player.

Well Done Wednesday, they did it the hard way but pulled it out the bag.

I thought Barnsley were excellent though, as long as Duff stays IMO they will be top 3 next year. Very good side for this level.

If Barnsley are 9/1 ish for next year, they’re the bet imo.

Thought they were the better side for large spells despite having ten men.

All that said, congrats to Wednesday. Would be cruel to get 96 points and not go up.

Potentially not... attendances have been up this season thanks to the Simmo effect and whenever we've opened the Waterworks end this season it's been for home fans. Fans of clubs who might have expected it to be allocated to them have been disappointed.

Of course that was all in League Two where we were challenging for promotion and there's only maybe one or two clubs who might have hoped we'd allocate it for them, particularly Bradford in the playoff semi 2nd leg, whose fans were particularly aggrieved to see it full of home fans. League One will bring more of these clubs and even bigger clubs who could easily fill it, while attendances might not be quite as high if we aren't winning as often.

If you come to BP in winter though when the weather is shit, we might just let you have it regardless of attendance.
