Defo. They haven't been able to deal with Clarke tonight though. Such a good player for this level.

Yeah each time he got the ball something looked like happening.

Well done Sunderland though. Think the right team has gone through over 180 minutes. Be an interesting final against Wycombe. Will always be siding with any club that has Gareth Ainsworth but be a tough job.

Really looking forward to tonight's game. Two giants at the level (even though im very partial towards the geordies).

I can see it going all the way to pens.
Christ. You would get lynched in Sunderland if you called them geordies…
And same in Newcastle if you called em a Mackem…

Fair play to Wycombe but it would be good to see Sunderland back up again - such a huge club needs to be back in the championship. Although its 4 points a season we will lose, as we have a great record over them since our championship days together ( we both come down the same season ).

Agreed on the Ainsworth front, however I'm torn. Feel as though Sunderland have done their stint in League 1, but would be good for them to fill out the away stand as always, more chance of them doing that than Wycombe. Should be a good game!

I’m trying to avoid thinking like this as it’s bad karma for our upcoming playoffs but I’m the opposite. Want no part of playing Sunderland IF we are lucky enough to come up. We rarely do anything against them.

Yeah but think of the money. They will fill your away end. Wycombe will bring 350.

That Will Grigg promotion clause is being triggered isn't it. That was a rack of cash I'd given up on us ever being able to claim!

Nice reminder of how poor we were this season.

Sheffield Wednesday finished 4th, bloody hell.

250k I think. Every little helps. But I want Wycombe to win, Sunderland would kick on easily in the Championship.
Nobody should want the anti footballers to win

I love that. Wanting the manager sacked after losing 1-0 in the first leg of a playoff semi. Fans eh?

Thought Sunderland were pretty impressive first 70 minutes. They definitely seem to have more about them under Neil than any of the other versions of Sunderland we've seen in League One. Wednesday had a good last 20. I have absolutely no idea who will eventually prevail and I don't mind admitting it. I will watch the second leg with a large bowl of popcorn.
Popcorn canny! I’ve woke up pissed, got graft in two hours!

Four fairly poor L1 PO games IMO.

Neil's got Sunderland looking fairly solid but pretty uninspiring to watch (not that they need to look good, it's about getting out of L1) and I didn't think Wednesday were particularly fluid either but seemed to try and make something happen more than Sunderland did over the two legs.

I wasn't impressed with either Sunderland or Wednesday so for me Wycombe are going up. They'll soak up the pressure and hit them on the break and get the job done.

It's getting results but I'm not sure why Alex Neil has turned into such a defensive manager, it was his undoing here.

This was obviously vs completely different players, but our record last season v Alex Neil’s PNE in the Championship was:

P3, W2, D1 - OK one was an FA Cup tie which was an under-strength PNE side, but…

So I’m certainly not confident of a result in the final, but Ainsworth has shown he can get a result v Neil’s sides. We’ll see.

I agree. If thats the quality of a top L1 side 'going at it' in a home play off 2nd leg then im confident we will do alright next season.

It felt very much like two leagues this season. The top 7 or 8 teams with bigger budgets slogging it out and the rest of us going about our business in the usual way but taking points off the bigger teams at time.

Wigan and Rotherham were easily the best teams in the league even though Rotherham lost their way a bit towards the end.

If you keep much of your squad together and add a bit of quality I would imagine you'll be absolutely fine. We lost a 34 goal striker and still comfortably stayed up.

Barton has an eye for a player ill give him that. Rumours we almost got Camps in January but fell through so we picked up the Geordie Maradona instead
Anthony Evans is the big name we have to keep as his contract is out in the summer, plus both our CB's were loanees so thats a key area we will have to go back to the drawing board with.
Id be happy just staying up tbh

Likewise with Bonner. He knows how to get the maximum out of players who realistically been overachieving this season. I feel we need to add a big more quality for the new season to push on.

We picked up George Williams from you boys and he didn't come with a glowing reference. He's been excellent for us and was my pick for POTY.

I think Williams was a victim of coming to an awful squad assembled by Garner and Tisdale.
Started off well but soon had the quality sucked out of him.
Even that worked out for us as this season Luca Hoole has been fantastic in his debut season and will be worth some real money with a decent season in L1.

Needed to put some meat on the bones of my post. Meant that i shouldn't be calling Sunderland a big club as i'm partial to Newcastle!

To be honest it’s probably more done out of self-interest.

If we didn’t admit that we’re not going to sell anywhere near as many as they are, and we didn’t agree to them boosting their allocation, we’d just end up with a bunch of SAFC fans in our end, which would probably end badly.

We’ve sold 16000 after 3 days of sales - the first 2 days, only STHs could buy.

I think we’ll probably max out at about 24000, I expect SAFC will bring twice that.
