The biggest one has to be Rooney doesn't it?
While most fans know and accept he's no longer the player he was and he's generally poor whenever he takes the field, pundits and managers still seem to rate him as though once being a top player means you have a free pass for the rest of your career. The fact that most pundits still talk about who is going to partner him next Summer for England rather than questioning his selection in the squad at all let alone as a starter used to be seen as an indicator of the huge gulf in talent we have. Now it should just be seen as lazy punditry basing opinions on reps rather than performances, with the more worrying factor being that it's not just media people who are doing it but the England manager and then there's always LVG.

I'm not sure how overrated Metesacker really is given that he's on so many of these lists and is part of the league's best defense this calendar year.

I think his spot in the XI is one of a couple we can/should improve next summer, but he's consistently an above average performer. I don't think many rate him higher than that.

I agree, it could win the league. I could have gone with players like Sigurdsson and say that they're a teeny weeny bit overrated, but the XI I picked, I just think those players have some notable "air" in their reputations.

To Bilo's credit, he'd offer better football reasoning than "I just think those players have some notable 'air' in their reputations" when I challenged him. Perhaps it's my prolonged exposure to America, but that makes as much sense to me as the Danish language.
