I really hope we make the play offs because we struggle to carry on form between seasons! For years we'd be relegation form first 20 or so games (possibly sack the manager) then have play off form the rest of the season and end up being the first to not go up or down! This season has been an exception to the norm

What has been the problem with Ipswich in all the time they've been stuck down here? I remember George Burley being criticized by some of your fans for taking too long to get you promoted, yet at least you were in the promotion frame the whole time, and five years seems nothing compared to the time you've been here now. The great thing about Burley is he did it with pretty limited resources and mostly homegrown talent, playing beautiful passing football in the tradition of the great Ipswich sides of the 1970s/80s, and I was really sorry to see you go down after such a fantastic return to the top flight. Is the club really so strapped for cash compared to even that era, that since Joe Royle's departure you have been unable to mount a serious promotion challenge up until now? I'd have thought that Marcus Evans taking over would have made a much bigger impact on the playing field a lot sooner, and indeed I remember a number of your fans being quite optimistic about it at the time.

I'm too young to remember the Burley days including the premiership years unfortunately, but Evans biggest mistake was to bring in Roy Keane and trust him with money! Think he spent 9 million in transfer fees in the short time he was with us whilst letting one Jordan Rhodes go to Huddersfield for pennies! His excuse for not bringing in the right players was location (a myth Jewell joined in with and one which McCarthy has busted). We were in a real mess when Keane left and to be fair Jewell had a real tough job! He did at least try and get us to play good stuff but the team was full of players on their last legs picking up their last pay check (bowyer, Bullard, Sonko etc) and was really no improvement on Keane's team. Only good thing about Jewell is he brought in Aaron Cresswell for very little! It's a miracle we never went down, considering in one of Keane's seasons it took us nearly 15 games to register a league win. McCarthy has completely reformed the club from top to bottom and everyone at the club is saying it's back to how it used to be (not that I can remember) even if the football is a completely different form of football to the previous eras. It's great to finally support a club worthy of support, taken 10 years for me but finally there!

On another note, just leaving for Blackburn :2thumb:

Can't wait until the game, we won our lasts trophy on the 2nd May 17 years ago so hopefully that will prove an omen, I don't ever remember such high demand at the Vic.

Will be happy for Brentford if they can hold onto 6th, would be fully deserved.

Brentford up to 5th as it stands, if Derby score Ipswich will be going out of the playoffs.

If Derby don't score then they really don't deserve to get into the play offs.

Norwich v Ipswich in the play offs anyone?!

What looked to be the 4th vs 5th fixture, is now 3rd vs 6th.

Norwich vs Ipswich.

Think Bournemouth have been the stand out team, happy to see them as Champions. Have to feel a bit sorry for Watford fans but I'm sure promotion to the top flight is an alright consolation prize.

FUN FACT: Derby have been outside of the top 6 on only 8 occasions this season.

Oh God I can't imagine anything I'd hate more. To sit through it knowing it will either be the best or the worst 90 minutes of your life....

Great for the rest of us but I don't envy Ipswich and Norwich fans

Well, none of you believed us.
Shocking, spineless performance against a team that had lost their last five in a row.

Amazing. Derby with comfortably the biggest implosion I've ever seen.

I think Osborn's winners down the ipro killed them. Utter decline since.

An expensively assembled squad of loanees who will not be there next year leaves them with a squad of players not up for the pressure of it and lots of talk of disharmony. On top of that their manager will probably go, as I can't see a way forward for him from now. Superb.

They should have done a Forest and been shit all season, it eases the pain.

Behave, our deafeat to you was nothing to do with it. Apart from that at the time we had won 6/7 games and form was great, all went declining after Bournemouth when Martin got injured and the Newcastle rumours came around - Arguments started Mac lost the team. Buxton chucked a cup of coffee at him after being told to get a new club, stinks of disharmony.

Fair enough.

We are a mess but we have those 3 points from PP to look back on this season. Incredible day
