Man, this is going to be close.

Despite yesterday's loss I reckon Luton will still go up over Easter weekend with a couple of wins.

On paper, us and Sunderland have it in our own hands. If either of us win all 5 then it's sorted. In reality, though, we both have tougher run ins than Barnsley and Charlton.

If Barnsley's form has now turned around then they have to be favourites. 4 wins should do it.

Charlton will be waiting for any slip ups and should post a 91 point benchmark with 4 likely wins.

An incredible finish, all said and done.

And well done to all teams for pushing each other all the way. This promotion race has been fantastic.

It’s an unbelievably tight race, and at this point impossible to call. Currently I really fancy Charlton to surprise everyone - Sunderland sound knackered, Barnsley (up until yesterday) looked wobbly, and we’ve got three tough games coming up that we probably need 7/9 points from, which just feels unrealistic to me.

But it is in our hands for the first time in a while!

What a race to be a part of though, this is easily as exciting as 2016-17’s League 2 run for us, if not more. Five sides with their own style, all of whom are really strong - any of us can get promoted and deserve it. Woe betide any fan who has to go through the playoffs this year..

I’m still not giving up on first either, at this point in 2017 we were 10 points behind Doncaster with 5 games left.

Charlton have come out of nowhere really, looked nailed on for a play off spot but have kept winning when other teams have wobbled in the last few weeks. Pompey likewise have roared back into contention. It's going to be very interesting and I doubt anyone will fancy themselves in the play offs.

Our best performances this season have come in our away games vs the top 6. We've played 4 won 2 drawn 2 and been pretty decent on all occasions. Honestly would much rather you went up than Sunderland so wouldn't mind losing but it'll be a tough game for you I'd guess.

Actually, I've got a spare day, and fancied a game. Not only this it the closest one for me, it involves both a promotion rival, and a team that we are playing next week, so seemed a good choice.

Although, having said that, it probably is in the wrong thread, but hey ho. I'll just copy and paste it into the right one.

We’re definitely in the stage now where just one game could have a huge impact on the final standings.. if anybody loses on Monday that could be curtains, especially with Sunderland vs Pompey coming up on Saturday. No slip ups.

My nerves were shredded yesterday, I’m going to be a hollow shell if it keeps up like this till the last game.

I can’t argue with that, we were certainly outplayed for large periods of the game and the goal at the end should’ve be disallowed for either handball or offside. I’m just relieved we walked away with the points.

We are definitely not yet up. But a win today at Accrington and a win at home v Wimbledon should be enough. And then we have Burton and Oxford to spare who both seem to have hit some form (these teams seem to hit form just before we play them recently).

As a neutral I thought that Portsmouth controlled the first half, but didn't take advantage by using a fairly negative approach - happy with a one goal lead, playing with one up, long ball to Hawkins and hope for knock downs. Second half Burton battered Pompey, but didn't often look like scoring. Stoppage time goal was total robbery - I was on the half way line and didn't get a view at the time, but watching the highlights it seemed to be both offside and handball.

Looking forward to next week. Based on Burton's second half, I hope that we don't need the win to make sure of promotion as it looks like being a difficult game. We play a much more open game than Pompey which could help you - on the other hand you seemed to have a very narrow midfield which would definitely suit our style, particularly the way our fullbacks play offensively.

The good news is that excellent state of your pitch, 'slightly' different from the 'pitch' that we played on a Accrington last night. How pitches like that are allowed in the league is a mystery.

Since the 3rd tier introduced 3 pts for a win in 1981-82, this is the 1st time 4 clubs have had this number of pts at this stage of the season.

Looked a real state which is worrying for a games played in the second half of April when pitches are normally in better condition. Replacing a pitch is an expensive process but they have invested in a new stand and are looking at a new training ground so money is being spent. The EFL has regulations covering stadiums but nothing on pitches which is remarkable. Of course if the pitch does cause injuries then Accrington should be affected more than any other club being they play half their games on it.

Thankfully we have strength in depth enough hopefully to see us through to the end of the season. If Barnsley drop points today then a win at home to the Wombles tomorrow would mean we are just about over the line. Sunderland and Portsmouth having to play each other meaning at least one of the will drop points and our far superior goal difference being the contributing factors.

Relaying a pitch costs £300k as the Sky commentators must've mentioned about a dozen times. Pretty much ever other team in the 91, if not all of the remaining 90 manage to relay their pitch on an annual basis. Why not them?

It certainly does help Accrington less than any other.

No one cares we couldn’t play on it, we showed we could adapt fairly well to it. It’s the injuries we seem to have picked up on it that’s the concern, so your points somewhat moot.

Better one is that it harms Accy in that way, the most so it’s almost certainly not a tactic they are employing.

We’ve been good at home recently only losing to Charlton which could easily have been a different result. We’ve chucked a few results away and should be clear but we really aren’t.

Would give anything for a win today as the final 2 games vs Accrington and Scunthorpe are going to be anus squeezers.
