Fuck me, Bob. Bit rich calling other club owners bat shit crazy!
I actually said the statement was bat-shit crazy rather than the actual owner. As I understand it, i thought the Colchester owner was pretty sensible, I think I recall a very level-headed statement he put out during Covid.

Lee Power is many things ID, but I doubt you will see him airing any laundry on the club website. Although I'll probably be proved very wrong, very soon!

Apologies if this has already been shared but its quite the statement.

There seems to be a penchant for football chairman (the Bury one was king) to put these kind of bat-shit crazy statements up on their main websites, wasn't there one not that long ago about Port Vale having a moan about referreeing decisions, or did I dream that?

Under the previous regime yes, embarrassing that! Smurf made some pretty wild statements and thankfully no longer!

Dread to imagine us going through the pandemic with him in charge!

We all know what’s he’s been doing in the laundry!

We could be an under the radar shout. We owe a lot of money to our Chairman, if he leaves then we are fucked.

I have never understood how a club owes a chairman money
In theory and please tell me if i am wrong
Manager asks chairman for money to buy 4 players......bought for 8m
Chairman sacks manager and back room team costing another 2m in total
outlay 10m
Chairman lends club 10m and charges 10% interest
Clubs now in debt to the chairman for 11m

All because the chairman made the wrong calls

If you have huge amounts of money you can generally fuck up and get away with it

It's unlikely that a £30m debt would just be inside knowledge, so presumably this serial bullshitter is chatting nonsense.

I'm sure Clarke implied there were money issues at Walsall before he left, but we all know there is only one club at this level who operate on that kind of deficit...
Was never going to be us. We're among the mostly tightly run ships in the EFL.

We were in that boat with Smurthwaite, his injections of cash were directors loans I believe hence Carol paid £4.5 million for a club he purchased for 1.5.

Oh and the 1.9 million Hugill sell on fee as part of the deal.

Amended version, just retracting the part about an EFL leak... presumably after they had been in touch.

I seriously doubt any club at this level could have that sort of debt (other than Colchester loaning themselves loads), was just guessing who might have some money worries down in the bottom end of the league. As expected, the "ex agent" (who nobody has ever met) was making it up.

There really needs to be a complete ban on owners putting money in in the form of loans.

Bit late to make a change you’d think, nothing to lose I guess.

I'm no Molesley fan but it's 15-20 games too late. Was told he was offered the job in November but turned it down, why the feck has he decided to have a go with 6 games left? Wonder if Nile is still about the training the ground as well, cos that didn't end well the last time they were together.
We all know PB will be an unmitigated disaster in the National League.

We brought in Gary Johnson with 6 games to go when we were relegated in 2015.

It was clearly a no-lose situation for him. Keep us up, he's a hero, go down, well we were pretty much down anyway. Obviously we went down.

What it did do though was give Johnson a look at the team and, when he was given pretty much carte blanche to do what he needed to do with the team, he signed a new deal that summer and the 15/16 season was an unmitigated success.

I'm not saying the same will happen with Phil Brown, but the idea isn't necessarily a bad one.

No-one's got a chance at Southend until there are changes in the Boardroom.

Never thought I'd see Brown back in the dugout, though. He'll still be wearing those retro call centre ear/mouth pieces.

the timing of it is strange - seams about 10 games too late.
If the 3 teams above you get results this weekend (including a Colchester win) and you lose his job becomes nearly impossible. but if Colchester lose and you win he's a hero already and you're only 2 points (3 with goal difference) from safety.

Surprised there hasn't been any suncream 'gags' on here yet. Welcome back to English football Mr Brown, apparently he is owed some money from Lee Power as well IIRC.

Crawley at home looks about as winnable as they come, so if ever there was time for a new manager bounce it would be the perfect timing. That would then give a fresh boost to the club too to have a promotion-winning manager back and straight in with a big three points.
