Went to Just Jack this weekend at Motion. The music was pretty awful to be honest. We bought the tickets after seeing Ryan Elliott in December when he played a brilliant set. However he was awful this time playing mainly house and his set was all over the place in my opinion.

Thankfully Derrick May was closing and he was really good. He's one of the original techno pioneers so it was good to hear him play and he played some excellent techno. I would go to see him again. The night was meant to finish at 9am but closed at 7:30am due to licensing issues which was pretty shit, the extended hours were another reason I was I was tempted to go.

EvertonPaul I love the top track "Brace" although I reckon the bass could have been a bit subtler when it drops. Very nice thought think I will grab that one.

Straight up techno from Poncet, love his stuff. :)

One more :)

Working all weekend this week so a quiet one ahead.

I went to their Boiler Room set in Moscow last summer. Pretty solid.

Listened to Aphex Twin's Syro again, first few tracks are as good as any experimental stuff lately but the rest is a bit underwhelming. New Burial feels so right despite not being on Hyperdub, but both releases are as original as they are a return to some of their previous material.

You checked out the AFX stuff on the Soundcloud I linked above? Some great tracks on there, worth wading through it.

He keeps updating it so I haven't fully kept up. There's unreleased stuff from other side projects too, "Fresher" etc is off an old Caustic demo.

I was just about to say that I'm really digging the Polish label Technosoul at the mo, they've got a couple of good Eastern artists to their name.

I like that, I will have to keep an eye out on them. Seems to be a fair bit of techno in Poland at the moment, when I was into trance they had a good trance scene as well.

Went to a good bunker party in London this Friday, 100 people, good little venue and a brilliant crowd. It's been a while since I went to a party and can genuinely say the crowd was excellent. They all seemed to know each other but they were really warm towards us and we didn't feel unwelcome which can sometimes happen at smaller nights. Cheap as well for London, Beer was £3 then soft drink/water was £1.

Music was good as well, everyone had their own style and I only found one set boring. They went through a wide range of techno and the Acid techno was really appreciated too. D.A.V.E the Drummer was a particular highlight though. :) Worth checking out if you are in London, they are bi-monthly events:

I love Union Jack they've done some great stuff.

Off to Jaded this weekend where Roman Poncet is playing for four hours. Love this guy from the sets I've heard and its his UK debut. Jadeds are always good.

We've got a 3am coach down to London. We managed to get some time off the day before so can sleep in the day. We debated going to Tribe of frog then catching the coach down to Jaded but I think we'll probably behave. Shame though as Eat static is playing and I'd love to catch him.

We ended up getting tribe tickets after all. Once the thoughts put in your head it's hard to resist. I have no doubt that the reason my partner has agreed is because it's psy trance though, if I it was a techno night she would say I was being greedy and to wait until we get to Jaded.

Still I am happy as I get to enjoy some Eat Static. :) He won't play this as it's a chill song but I love it:

Did the Canal Mills stop off for Hannah Wants' tour on Saturday up in Leeds.

Despite her being a tad mainstream I don't mind her as she's much more underground/garage than most of the similar sort of DJ's at her level and exposure. Started off a bit slow but once it got dirtier vibes wise I began to have a good night! Really enjoyed the venue, it's my first time at Canal Mills and I wouldn't mind making the journey up the M1 for a decent night. Good crowd with a few really helpful people!

Not sure what's next for me, maybe Scream at Fez Club in Sheffield in a couple of weeks.

After all that talk about Eat Static and I didn't get to see him. (Old TFF LOL Smiley.)

It was to busy in the main room when he got on so we went upstairs. However really enjoyed the sets I did hear by Hemp, Natzan and CIMIA at tribe of frog, I thought I'd had enough of psy trance for a little while but I enjoyed Hemp and Natzan a lot, Lakota is such a better venue compared to the last two venues we went to that held Psy trance parties. (Trinity and Black Swan.)

Jaded was excellent as always. Roman Poncet played really great 4 hours set but I think I enjoyed Raymundo Rodriguez and Chris Stanford just as much when they went B2B to close. I think they complemented each other really well. Hanging now but worth it.

My friend has talked me into going to Bloc, I was out while she text me and before I knew it I had sorted out cover for my session that weekend. Felt it was a bit to late to back out when I was feeling a little bit dark on the Coach home and thinking a bit more logicaly about the money..... (Old TFF Eye role smiley) Still should be a good one and lots of people playing who I'd like to see that I haven't already, especially Function.

I like the look of that Canal Mills venue mate! Shame it's so far away. Really good looking Drum and Bass line up there this month as well:

Ed Rush b2b Rockwell
Alix Perez
Kasra x Enei x Emperor (Critical Sound)
Audio

The main ones I'd like to see from that line up. Kasra, Enei and Emperor B2B at the same night is mouth watering.

Yeah bit of a trek from your way (if you're based in Bristol that is?). If you're ever up North and there's something half decent on I'd recommend dropping in on Canal Mills, up there with my favorites.

Like the sound of that Manic Brothers track there.

This guy plays at Fez next week but I don't think anyone will come with me. This one's very 90's, love it.

I like that. Would you go on your own?

I don't think so, it would be the motivation to get myself there alone that would stop me. Once I'd be in there I'd be fine, I generally like being left alone when I go to these sort of things anyway even if there's a big group of us. I get to where I want to be and get stuck into it, a couple of my mates are quite needy and attention seeking which is the complete opposite to me.
Do you go alone/ever been alone?

Yeah the trip back on your own can be quite long. I agree about finding a spot and just getting on with it, I mean I do fuck around sometimes especially if I'm not feeling the music but generally I'm there to dance and enjoy the music.

I have been to a few things on my own. I didn't really know many people here who were into it and I had online friends I would meet with but they couldn't always go. Around four years ago I went to Amsterdam Dance Event on my own but it was one of the best things I ever did. At the time I'd had enough of waiting for other people and so I started booking things and just letting them know what I'd book rather than waiting for others.

I'm lucky now as I know people here and my partner loves it as much as me but if it was something I really wanted to go too then I would go.

I recommend it if you really want to go to something though, it's pretty enjoyable and usually the crowd is friendly so it's not like you'll be on your own.
