Yeah the trip back on your own can be quite long. I agree about finding a spot and just getting on with it, I mean I do fuck around sometimes especially if I'm not feeling the music but generally I'm there to dance and enjoy the music.

I have been to a few things on my own. I didn't really know many people here who were into it and I had online friends I would meet with but they couldn't always go. Around four years ago I went to Amsterdam Dance Event on my own but it was one of the best things I ever did. At the time I'd had enough of waiting for other people and so I started booking things and just letting them know what I'd book rather than waiting for others.

I'm lucky now as I know people here and my partner loves it as much as me but if it was something I really wanted to go too then I would go.

I recommend it if you really want to go to something though, it's pretty enjoyable and usually the crowd is friendly so it's not like you'll be on your own.

That's pretty cool, I can see why it's so easy to make friends if you do go alone, the atmosphere/vibe at raves I've been to are normally pretty good, very rare I feel intimidated.

I probably will do if it's something I really want to see, like yourself I now have a decent bunch of local lads who are normally up for nights, just the odd occasion when everyone's busy.

Quiet few weeks for me now on this scene.

Decent event for Easter weekend in Liverpool. Boss location as well, a 19th century derelict orphanage.

I really like Carola, did 11 hours at Amnesia's Music On with him ending it in the big room last summer, good good memories.

Looks a good craic that!

Went to Music On myself in 2013, nothing beats the terrace with the sunlight shining through the roof!

Yeah I like Carola and that's a nice line up. You got tickets Paul? I have a few mates from up north that worship the guy and we usually get together for Carola like last year at Albert Hall. I'm not doing it this year as it finishes at four again which is far to early.

Why do so many nights in Manchester finish at 4am? I've not seen Carola playing south fot a long time as he fell out with Fabric a couple of years back.

I've yet to catch any techno in Ibiza unfortunately.

Yeah I've got tickets sorted, will actually be my first event since November. I kind of went off the scene for a while through boring line ups in a lot of places and a lack of any decent new music. Looking forward to this one though.

The 4am finishes really are frustrating sometimes, needs to be 6 atleast. Carola is playing a daytime set for this event I believe.

Daytimes fine by me and it doesn't mess up your sleeping pattern.

Appreciate that it's hard to find fresh line ups all the time although there is usually something that catches my eye. I've found loads of good music over the last couple of months. Been a good year for techno so far this year. :)

No doubt about that! What's the techno scene like in Bristol at the moment?

Absolute fucking shit. You get the odd decent night but on the whole it's house and dnb. I hate house but don't mind drum and bass. We do have some great psy trance parties which I love.

Bristol does have a good music scene with good clubs, it just lacks a good techno scene. A club finishing before six is rare here luckily.

There are some good acid nights but I've been to lots of nights described as techno that end up being really tame techno or house.

Lucky London and Birmingham aren't far, its relatively cheap to get there on the coach and so we go there a lot.

How are things up north? I see the odd good thing.

Which reminds me my mate is going to Sound Control with Dave Seaman, Henery Saiz and Guy Mantzar in October which should be good if you're into progressive music.

Ah that's shite. Think I'm quite lucky in Liverpool at the moment, can think of 4 or 5 really decent techno/underground nights, then you've still got Manchester half an hour away which has a lot of variety.

So Bloc didn't go to plan for me. I enjoyed the Friday and Ben UFO was excellent and someone I've never seen.

Then Saturday we had a bit of a party at the chalet before going to sleep. Woke up felt fine and headed out to Scuba. I started to feel a bit sick/uncomfortable so went to the loo but nothing happened.

I got searched on my way out and was confident as I didnt have anything on me. Me and the guy were having a joke and then all of a sudden started shouting "What did I tell you would happen if you didn't tell me you had something?" I was pretty shocked when he then pulled a pill out of my jeans comb pocket! I must have left it in my jeans when I
chucked them back on.

At this point I was going home, but luckily as he'd found it in an obvious place and I was confident througout the search so let me go with a warning. He was pretty sound about it which was good really.

Unfortunately that was the end of my weekend. It spun me out and I went back to the chalet to force myself to be sick which is the worst thing I could do as I am not good at being sick as I can never stop it. The next 24 hours were spent in the chalet being sick and I literally missed everything else.
.
Function, DVS1 B2B Ben sims and also Klock B2B with Dettmann. Pretty gutting but I couldn't even keep down any water and I'm not much better today.

The first time I've ever ruined a festival for myself. The festival itself is very good though.

@oldskoolparties on Twitter have some class vintage rave pictures, just spent the last half hour scrolling through, would have loved to have been in my twenties 20/25 years ago!

Yeah I wish I was there to see it explode in the late 80's/90's. My mate was in Berlin when the wall fell and she said it was a very special time.

Boss oldie here:

Ah I love that song, a real classic. :)

Early morning techno session. https://soundcloud.com/…/complexed-podcast-005-with-drumcom…

Been loving this mix the last couple of days, anyone know the song at about 1 hour 28 minutes in?

What are you all up to this weekend? It's a normal weekend for me as I don't get bank holidays off, a few of my mates went to the Blueprint night in London which I was gutted to miss.

There is a big trance night in Bristol tonight so going to that, can't wait. :) In particular looking forward to Menno De Jong, Solarstone, Simon Patterson and Jordan Suckley. Paul Van Dyk is playing too.

Then tomorrow we might possibly go and see Simon Kerridge which is really dark hard techno, also in Bristol. It starts at 4pm though so not sure on if we will go or not.....

Just spent a good hour looking through this thread, some great tunes put up that i'd never heard. Went to a few underground raves in Newcastle last year, but haven't been able to get to any since the baby was born. Went to one that had a couple who must have been over 60 raving their tits off until daylight, they didn't seem to be on anything either, just having a great time.

There's an event at world hq in July that i want to go to. Signum and research & development are playing, might call in a favour from the in laws.

Yeah love it when you meet the older people, quite common at Psy trance parties in particular but meet them everywhere. I hope I'll still be out there doing it and I can imagine it's very good for you when you're older. The exercise is one of the best bits about it.

I really like Signum, is it a trance night then?
