Yes that's a nice one :) Would be great on the dance floor :)

Here is one of many good tracks from the MTD set. The O-Phase track is wicked as well.

Heard the last one when I've been out quite a bit but only just found out what it is. Brilliant track.

Jeff Mills is on my list to see ha. Got nothing planned for the Saturday, but Carl Cox is in town on the Sunday so I'll probably end up there.

On a side note, Ibiza line ups are starting to come out and the one which excites me most is Sasha and Prydz on the terrace in Amnesia for Cream. Genuinely can't wait for that.

Looking forward to Ruskin, Suckut and KiNK especially as well. Also the special guest. KiNK isn't on until 21:30 so the motivation to
stay is there. Infact the set times are very good.

Prydz is always worth seeing. :)

Tribe of Frog tomorrow night for some full on psy trance action. :)

I'm working nights till 5th May, so, nope!!
Not that I get to many things these days anyway with family and work. I'll attempt to head to some D&B over the summer at the usual grotty London venues.

Haha, KM I go to the odd drum n bass night now and then but the scene here is really crap. No hardcore. NO HARDCORE. Miss it more than football or fish and chips.

Been progressively getting into makina over the last year or so and have recently discovered a three deck style of mixing that originated in Spain, known as BCN (Barcelona). Not gonna claim that three decks is particularly groundbreaking or anything, or that this shook up the dance music community, however if you're into hardcore and getting bored and tired of the likes of Gammer, Styles, Dougal, etc. then it's certainly worth exploring this. The style of mixing comprises two tunes with driving/up front/cheesy melodies, but using a separate more minimal tune to enhance the bass and give the dj the option to add blips, sqeuaks, scratches whenever they see fit to do so. Entire mixes don't seem to follow this protocol, but it's definitely there to hear the more you listen. It's a hard sound and sets/mixes are often a bit of an assault on your ears so you need to be in the right frame of mind to get involved, but it's great fun.

The dons of this that pushed it back in the day seem to be a duo called Pastis & Buenri

These two tunes seemed to push it to the forefront back in '95 in Spain, both reaching number one in their mainstream charts. Not amazing tunes, but nice to have a touch of context innit...

^^^This one is actually Italian I think, found out about it after hearing a few seconds or so of it pitched up at the start of this set...

A couple of sets that aren't from Spanish DJs that I've been enjoying lately too...

^^^The N-Trance drop around the 33 minute mark on that one made me put down what I was doing so I could just grin to myself.

^^^Linked to a few of this guy's mixes before, but he was making mixes that were so much better than 90% of stuff coming out of the UK (he's from the US), so I'll continue to plug him. I use the past tense, as he seemed to disappear off the face of the earth a few years ago. All his Youtube mixes are from 2-4 years ago and his Soundcloud tells a similar story. A shame. He seamlessly flits from the best bits of modern UK hardcore to J-Core to makina to old skool to gabbary/hardstyle hardcore. Along with Shimamura he's probably the DJ I'm most pleased about discovering over the past few years. His makina mixes are especially useful as he's actually taken the time to label his videos to tell you what the bass and the melody tunes are and when they come in.

Anyway, think I should call time on this post as it's turned into a bit of an overload but hopefully at least one of you (Carel) will give some of those links a whirl.

24 hours of Techno coming up. :)
Not impressed with the "special guest" apparently being Kraviz though. Will have an open mind....

Just noticed you're in South Korea, would have thought they'd like a bit of Hardcore. I don't actually think the scene is that great here at the moment, I'm only half hour from London and I struggle to find really decent HH events to attend, still I'll see what the summer brings.

Makam, Steve O'Sullivan, Suckut, Radio Slave and Ruskin all stood out on Saturday! Mills was alright but I think he suffered from the warm up acts nearly sending everyone to sleep. Brilliant sets from all. Fair play to Oval Spaces for pulling it off too, not every day we get Marathon Techno events in the UK so I'm glad we made the effort to go!

Even Nina Kraviz was alright. We ended
up staying for the full 24 hours, made sure we ate properly and it was surprisingly easy after breakfast at 9am. If the music would have dipped I expect we would have left but it just kept going. Met some brilliant people there including the staff behind the kitchen.

Like Scuba a lot, was a really pleasant surprise when I saw him last year as I wasn't sure if I'd like him.

New Mark Broom

Involver is brilliant:

Saw what that was before it got taken down, it was that Styles and Re-Con 'Rest of Your Life' one wasn't it? Styles and Gammer have lost it, for me. Escort them to wherever Breeze, Storm and Whizzkid are.

This is one of my favourite tunes right now that was made in 2008...

Watched the trailer for We Are Your Friends. Thought it was a parody...

"if you're a dj all you need is a laptop, SOME talent and ONE track"

...realised it wasn't.

Jesus.

However, on the same day as watching that I found out what this awesome J-Core tune is that I have listened to in several mixes and have always been too lazy to bother investigating...

And while I'm posting a J-Core tune, I'm gonna add this classic in as well...

Thanks for mentioning that trailer SoC! Brilliant. The 128 bpm comment is the best. Looks truely awful though.

I hate the summer, all the line ups in the clubs dry up and I can't find anything on my weekends off.
