Compared to my usual tipples from Islay and Jura (I like a drop of sheep dip), it's more like pudding in a glass but in a nice way, without being too sweet.

A bed and mattress for the new place.

Leo will be pleased to know that I went in, chose the fabric colour, ordered and left. Decisive!

Well been wanting to cut back on the whisky purchases after forking out £1100 on my car in the last week, but these two were on offer on Amazon so had to replace two other bottles I've finished recently. :)

Oh I agree. Morrisons have a great deal on at the moment for various spirits so I've been stocking up with Captain Morgan's Spiced @ £15 a litre. Was in this morning and got a £5 off our next shop there so guess what it's gonna be used for next week.....:ds:

However I doubt that my measly amount comes close to your hoose full of bottles.

Of course as I said mate, Amazon had a few of them on special and I don't live near Dunfermline to pick them up! I order online a lot, only had bother once when I opened a bottle and the cork split in two which can happen. But I told them about it and got a 10 quid off voucher for my next order. The whisky itself was perfectly fine. You can't get most of the stuff I'm buying in shops anyway.

Delivery has arrived via a mad Polish bloke! He was a right laugh. :D

Corked whisky? I don't drink any kind of spirits but I didn't know it came in a corked bottle, doesn't the cork taint the wee dram?

They are soft corks mate, designed to be used multiple times, unlike with wine bottles in which you are supposed to bin them once the bottle is opened. There should be no contact between the spirit and the cork generally which is why whisky should always be stored standing up. They can degrade if the whisky is stored for long periods on its side as the high ABV can eat at the cork, particularly on cask strength whiskies. If bits of it get in the whisky there is no harm done, I finished a bottle the other week that had quite a bit of sediment in the last dram, didn't do me any harm at all, and it didn't affect the nose or taste. Now they can get moldy on the inside if for some reason the seal wasn't on properly, or split in two as well which can be a bastard to fix, but you should always keep a few dozen other corks there for when that happens. If there is mold on the cork, generally the whisky should be ok, as its a natural fungus that comes off as the whisky evaporates, and tests so far have shown that its perfectly ok for humans to breathe in.

Some towns and people who stay near distilleries do complain about the fungus as it blackens everything, and distilleries have to wash their walls regularly. And if you do distillery tours near the warehouse you'll see barrels covered in it too as the angels share occurs over time. Here for example is a stop sign in America near a distillery caked in the stuff.

One of the main whisky gurus around, Ralfy has the stuff all over his bothy (as you can see here
) and he isn't concerned at all about it, but be aware if you somehow leave your whisky opened for a few days (which some do to air out a new bottle if the whisky feels tight and isn't opening up) then that stuff can get on your walls!

The navvy's kit arrived this afternoon. The Jura came yesterday and I cracked it last night to soften the pain of coming runner-up in the CUFC League this season.

That's something I'm looking at getting into down the line. Enjoy!
It's a failure. i was hoping to avoid the 2nd/3rd glass draw of a decent Islay.

Compared to any Armangac I've drunk anywhere, it's crap - I wish I'd bought some Bell's or Jameson's.

Eugh horrible when that happens, I've had that several times over the years and you almost want to pour it down the sink at times!

I usually check online reviews first from trusted sources, or sometimes if I know the producer makes quality stuff I'll take a punt with them before parting with my money.

Finally got fed up with all the wires from an ancient midi system around the kitchen for our main radio listening and invested in a Majority Oakington DAB + System.

This fan to cool my room down. Its a bit big and bloody noisy, and when your in it even on the lowest setting you feel like you are near a helicopter - but it doesn't half do the job lol! Can only have it on for a few minutes, but any hot phases I get are quickly quenched by this behemoth!
