Offical Silkyman Translation™ - I didn't really support (Manchester) City until they got the rich owner but I did some reading up on Wikipedia and I can do a passable impression of a pre-Sheikh (Manchester) City fan if I try hard enough. PS Fuck Macclesfield Town.

So...

The big question is undoubtedly: with Benitez, can Newcastle survive?

I'm still of the opinion that Sunderland will stay up given their run-in. Just. Although, if Benitez does save Newcastle, bloody well done.

Those three coming up soon, if a team can win two of them that could well be enough.

I'd written Norwich off but 4 points from 6 and back to back clean sheets proves it's not quite the head to head battle between Newcastle and Sunderland for survival that I'd thought. A run of matches that sees them play Newcastle, Palace and Sunderland in their next three too, would be the perfect time to put a run together.

As it stands, there are no bigger clubs than the current bottom three to have been relegated from the Premier League. Has there?

Considering the current bottom 3 between them have more English titles than the current top 3, I'd say not.

Bit worried we might be dragged into it if Norwich and one of the North East clubs hit form although they are playing each other so will drop points.

Our run-in is tough away from home with Arsenal/West Ham and Liverpool to come so will need to get points against Norwich (A) and Villa/Sunderland (H) potentially.

If anyone else is dropping into this, it's Palace, they're dropping like a fucking brick.

Very lucky 3 points against us though, as I'm sure even you will agree... Guzan gave you that game.

Teams at the bottom always seem to start picking points up toward the end but still can't see you being dragged in. You're safe. Swansea are virtually there. Palace are the ones thatneed to worry.

I think Palace will pick up the win or two that they need to be fine. They've looked better the last two games and have enough threat about them to gain points, eventually.

Think Palace will fall over the line. Newcastles and our game against Norwich are huge, if Norwich win both its just about over. Sam wants four wins which puts us on 38 points, not sure we can do that.

I think we need 2 wins now and maybe a draw. Best chance to get those wins is the next 2 games. Sunderland game in a couple of weeks is absolutely massive.

Swansea are 10 points clear, no way they're dropping now. Palace could still drop though, and they seem to be trying their best to do so.

Are we treating Newcastle as relegated now? I think the best case scenario is that they get 10 points for their final fixtures. Norwich could easily get 4 points out of their next two games, and I can't see Palace getting 0 points for the rest of the season. It might come down to goal difference, but really, I can't see Newcastle staying up now.
Sunderland have a difficult run in as well. I suspect it'll stay as it is, maybe Norwich take over Palace.

Can see us going down, deffo. 6 points adrift and we're shite.

Our remaining games;

Southampton (A) = L
Swansea (H) = Draw at best
Man City (H) = L
Liverpool (A) = L
Palace (H) = W
Villa (A) = W
Spurs (H) = L

we're down and in an awful position going in to next season with multiple contracts running out this summer, further emphasising how poorly the club is run.

Are the contracts running out neccesarily a bad thing though? Are you missing out on some resale value (who would buy them?) or are you actually taking some weight off the wage bill?
In other words, who's off?

couple of them i'll be glad to get rid of (marveaux 60k a week, obertan 40k a week... fucking insanity). others like aarons and mbabu should have been our future and fucking around not offering them new deals for the past 2 years is what has really annoyed me, would have been agreat opportunity to really develop them and have them as a part of the first team. saylor would have been handy in the championship too. he may sign on yet but it's doubtful. most of the higher earners are signed on til 2017 at the least, so there's some money to be made there if clubs are stupid enough to sign them.

oh, and thauvin has declared his intention to stay. yaaaay

So Marveaux earns double the money of Mahrez... Odd policy you've got there.

the only policy we have is that of neglecting the defence. the rest is chucking shit at walls and seeing what sticks.

shit isn't very sticky, surprisingly
