Looks like we'll be appealing Pearce's red which is a fair challenge imo.
We had a ref come in after a few games who said we should never have had that many, we'd just had some inexperienced and weak refs. Much like yesterday.Anyone surprised to see Manafield have had the most yellow cards this season. (32) and the most fouls, by a long way as well?
Comments like these do make it sound like sour grapes, whether that was the intention or not.Wasn't there but sounds like it was a fiesty one between us and Bristol.
Shame this thread has gone a bit shit though as Bristol are a team I don't mind. Generally a good set of fans on here too tbf.
We've had some links down the years (Barrett, Disley, Clarke, relegation etc) and are similar clubs in many ways so there should really be mutual respect rather than bickering.
I wish Bristol all the best for this season personally.
As for the argument that had we tried to play football we would have been comfortably beaten, what an absolute joke that is.
Sorry we can't all be playing on that Rakish Bingham god level. They say this whoever they play. I went to field mill on the opening day of the season expecting to see all this Tiki taka football after reading posts from some (not all) stags fans. I was fearing for my team to be honest whilst at the same time looking forward to seeing such amazing football live in this country.
I didn't see this wonderful passing football at all. They mix it up which isn't a bad thing and looked well organised on the day. They caused us problems with long diagonal balls, not by "out footballing" us. We actually edged possession against them and were good value for the 1-1.
I've often wondered if this "try and play football against mansfield at your peril" thing is some sort of wind up that their fans have come up with, because a lot of opposing fans seem to miss mansfield's passing masterclasses.
Well you could be if you hadn't donated him to Hartlepool.Sorry we can't all be playing on that Rakish Bingham god level.
Summed it up well there mate.I personally held no grudges towards Mansfield after they sent us down. I feel no bitterness towards their fans whatsoever, but I am shocked by some of the comments they have made about the game yesterday.
I can't believe people think we were the 'horrible' team. It was abundantly clear to most of us in the away end that it was your tactic to be overly physical and niggly at the start of the game. We may have responded in that way and gave us good as we got come the end, but we certainly didn't start off like that as the dirty side of the game doesn't come naturally to most of our players. Matt Green was throwing elbows about like he had feeling in his arms for the first time in his life and the likes of Nicky Hunt and Jamie McGuire hounded the ref ridiculous amounts whenever possible. I mean it was McGuire's sprint to Easter and subsequent crying to the ref that got him sent off, and Hunt was involved in so many different incidents of illegal aggression it was unreal. He could easily have been sent off long before he was and to be honest I think he's a bit of a p***k.
We felt aggrieved for the red card as it clearly wasn't justified and the ref was weak, so perhaps we did try a bit harder to get a reaction out of your lot in the second half. It clearly worked and it highlighted how some of your players have bad tempers - Pearce in particular.
As for the argument that had we tried to play football we would have been comfortably beaten, what an absolute joke that is. You guys looked as if you had something about you and I did think you kept the ball quite well, but you offered nothing up top really and thus became just like a lot of other teams in this division: steady and pedestrian. By no means we were anywhere near our best yesterday - we lost some of our momentum by having a weekend off 7 days ago and without Bodin and Gosling we lacked our two most creative players - but I not once felt as if you were going to outplay us. We created good chances throughout the second half and could/should have won what was a very difficult game in the circumstances 3 or 4-1.
It feels a bit like sour grapes simply because you are having a good year and feel disappointed to lose at home. I don't dislike Mansfield at all and think, for what it's worth, that you will be in and around the play-off race. I just think some of you are being a bit blinkered in your assessment of yesterday's game. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Its all well keeping the ball if you don't do anything with it.Errm excuse me but no , rovers had absolutely nowt to offer till we went down to 9 , then effectively 7 , if you dint win with more holes in our defence than a broffol then ....... Seriously come on rovers fans yea it was 2 very well taken goals I no but you did look rather clueless till the man advantage ! And then obvious events took adavantage , but please you got away with it on the day , and like I said , when it go's for ya it's sweet and against ........... We all no it's bitter taste !!!
Summed it up well there mate.
I was chatting to a couple of Mansfield fans after the game that seemed to have a much more balanced view of the game than many on here. They thought we edged it in the end with all the chances we created after their equaliser and deserved the 3 points. Up to that point they felt a draw would have been a fair result and I think that's probably about right.
My dad is disabled so we were parked in the main car park and we were talking to a couple of Mansfield fans as I was putting my dads mobility scooter into the boot. They never actually said we were the better side, just that we edged a crazy game and probably deserved the 3 points in the end.Whereas we didn't test Bristol as we should have done when a man up, I'm interested as to who the fans were who thought you were the better side, either in person outside the ground, in the pub or on stagsnet, I've yet to find one who subscribes to that opinion. Maybe one of the other regulars on here might have that "balanced" view?

Errm excuse me but no , rovers had absolutely nowt to offer till we went down to 9
Haha the irony is that they were our first red cards of the season. Kind of disproves your theory. Either way yes we maybe a little physical but half the yellows shouldn't have stood in which it has been clarified by a official which came in to talk to us.No - I am not surprised and quite honestly I am beginning to think something should be done about it.
It's OK to suspend a player for collecting 5 yellows but that does nothing to improve the quality of the football in L2.
I believe a team collecting 50 yellows should be deducted 5 or 10 points.
Likewise for red cards ( I notice Mansfield had yet another 2 on Saturday ). A team getting 20 reds should get an even bigger points deduction.
Doesn't matter - the FL deem that the referee made a mistake and was an incorrect sending off
