Ashame the final's not at home but can't be too picky since our 3 knock out games so far have all been at home.

Fair play to Konta. Beats Petkovic again in straight sets. Hope this isn't a flash in the pan and she can maintain this.

Really is in top form at the moment - how much higher can she go?

Cheers Lee.

Is that in a semi final?

No it was 1st round of the Wuhan Open. A 56 player draw (top 8 seeds get byes first round). She came through qualifying. Plays Azarenka most likely in the 2nd round. Should give her a few more ranking points.

Konta will be the new British no1 next week when the new rankings are announced. She has been in excellent form since Wimbledon, winning 19 out of 20 matches played. Well done to her.

Konta now beats Azarenka. Granted the latter retired at 6-4, 1-0 down but she was still playing excellent by the sounds. Next up it's Halep. Just gets easier!

She has only gone and beat Halep, the world no2 in 3 sets. She was losing 1-5 in the final set and came back to win 7-5. She's pretty good isn't she?

Bloody hell. If this is a flash in the pan, it's a bloody big flash. Hopefully this is the start of a real surge for her.

Got Venus next - on current form you'd back her to win that too

Lost 7-5 in the final set when serving for the match - unlucky.

She almost had Venus as well. Fair play. What a run of form she is on. I think she can maintain it as her game is right there. Her backhand in particular is a thing of beauty.

Croatia's Ivo Karlovic became the all-time leader in aces as he hit 26 to reach 10,247, passing compatriot Goran Ivanisevic's record of 10,237.

Murray through against Isner, a tough match for anyone and he looked to completely turn the big Yanks blood at times the way he bamboozled him. Berdych next, though, a different proposition.

It's good to see Nadal finally finding some form. I used to enjoy the epic battles between him and Djokovic, so in time hopefully he can get back playing at a high level consistantly again and going deep in grand slam tournaments once again.

Andy demolishes Berdych and books a place in the semi's against you know who. Looks to be playing well though.

Still lost 6-3
Yeah, never confident of Murray when he breaks too early against Fed/Djok. Oh well, he's had a good run and played well enough this week; just pace himself till the end of the season for the Davis Cup, thats the priority.

Looking at the WTA Tour final results shows how inconsistent the ladies are.

6 of the 8 actually had a 1-2 record!

Sharapova probably ought to win.

Federer started well but it's now looking more like another Nadal win

edit - or not... the GOAT beats the pretender. :2thumb:
