Very happy to have 19 points after 10 games. Looking at the table as it is now, 9 of our 10 games have been against teams in the top half! Gutted Scunthorpe has been postponed, them and Tranmere at home could have been two very nice games to play in our current form

Still don't think we've played anywhere near to our true potential either. Also keep in mind that I don't think we've yet had what many would consider our best 11 out this season once as of yet. Up until the last few games we weren't creating enough. Now my slight gripe is that we are creating chances every game but we're not converting the vast majority of them. We should have been out of sight against Oldham at half time and in the end only won by the one goal, and today really should have been 4, 5 or even 6. I just want us to have the odd game where we are ruthless and batter the opposition in terms of the final score.

We have got decent players who spectacularly underperformed under the previous manager. Our recent form won't necessarily tell you anything about the future, although the game at Vale Park would be pretty early in any new manager's tenure.

Plus, our reserves actually drew there in the nonsense cup.

How does Otis Khan keep making your team? He's awful.

I wonder what will happen now there is this second lockdown. I take it football will be suspended after Tuesdays fixtures for at least a month?

No, it’s been confirmed on sky sports that Football will continue

Yeah I completely agree, some of our build up play today was some of the best football I’ve seen vale play but just lacked that final product. Yes we do need to try to be more ruthless because last season we dropped too many points from winning positions early in the season and that came from letting the opposition still have a chance to snatch something! There’s a massive opportunity I think in this league for a few sides to create a bit of a gap from the chasing pack! I hope that we are one of them

Great result for us. Kept at it and just about deserved it. The Carlisle bloke getting sent off gave us the edge probably. Carlisle were pretty good in my view, especially their wide players. Our emergency keeper from Reading looked great. We picked up a massive haul of points in busy October without playing that well in some of the games. Omens are good UTC

Because the previous manager kept picking him.

He is not awful, but he is not our best player.

Granted I've only seen him a handful of times, but he's always looked like someone that doesn't really have a final pass or shot in him and I can imagine he can be painfully frustrating at times.

Will probably score a double against us down the line now!

Question to any Newport supporters? Do you feel like you can be a contender this season or do you believe you have had a pretty easy run? 8 of your 10 games have been against bottom half clubs and the 2 in the top half have been Harrogate who sit 12th and Cambridge which you lost. Obviously you still have to win your games regardless to who you play but do you feel like you may struggle against the likes of Exeter, Cheltenham, Salford, etc?
When we played them, Tranmere, Colchester, Bradford and Harrogate were all in the top eight or ten. We seem to be riding our luck a little with last minute goals but we are playing decent football. We will have to see but it’s been a very impressive start, especially when you consider we’ve also beaten Swansea and Watford in the League Cup and drawn with Newcastle. I would certainly have settled for this in August!

Its the first ten games of the season. Things have gone wrong for some teams and right for others. Now the managers start earning their crust. What's right, what's wrong. Maximise the first, minimise the second.

Crawley played Tranmere and beat them 4-0.

They ain't that bad. New manager comes in and gets the players they already have pinging the ball to each other instead of the softly softly tappy stuff they were doing against us and they will start getting results. They basically need to hurry up a bit.

Port Vale spanked us. Men against boys. Vale were fitter, stronger and had a better plan. We went away and worked hard on the training pitch and have turned it around.

I would say apart from Southend , who need some better players, there ain't much between 1st and 6th and 10th and 23rd.

Casey.

Didn’t watch today can’t bring myself to watch it anymore it’s genuinely depressing.
Vale fans are being too kind. We are fucking shit and it’s totally feasible to say we could go the whole season without winning we are an embarrassment at either end of the pitch, sometimes playing okay stuff in the middle without actually doing anything. This side is relegated in the conference next season
I'll stop the kindness. Jesus you were terrible, when I saw us at 4/6 to win away I thought here we go.
Ought to of been 1 up within a minute, think Worrall had one eye on getting clattered hence the miss.
Don't remember your keeper making loads of saves but we obviously hit the woodwork twice and a few scrambles .
No affiliation with Southend obviously but I am shocked to see the demise. No idea if it's poor management or poor owners ?
I last went maybe 2015 ish and you beat us 1-0 and were hovering around the play offs in League one.
Already looking a miracle if you stay up and it is sad to see.
One young lad for you looked about 4 foot something and aged about 12 he could almost of been a mascot. A team that looks cobbled together and no names stood out as experienced pros I have heard of.
Didn't look a lack of heart or desire just pure lack of ability and experience.

I don’t think they had no ability I thought some of them looked talented and had loads of pace but are far from ready for league football. It reminded me of some of the B teams we play in the Paint Papa Leasing thing! Loads of kids lacking experience who can knock it around but not ready for men’s football. Needs a couple of hairy arse 6 foot 2 cloggers at the back. I feel sorry for these lads as it won’t do their confidence any good at all long term getting beaten week in week out.

They had very little physical height either which at this level is going to be a problem, who was going to win a header against Pope when balls came in to the box. As you say one of them looked about 5 foot and 12 years old! If they had an experienced squad and was chucking in a couple of these lads you’d say fair play and they’d probably do well.

Hope they sort their issues and can get some bodies in but by January it will be too late, Askey said it is probably the most comfortable we’ve been in a game under him and that’s probably a fair assessment. They look like they’d get less points than Stevenage did last season as it stands. Sad to see another proper club in this state.

It's embarrassing when one of our players falls for one of the oldest tricks in the book. :ffs:

Instead of reacting with a headbutt he should have convinced the ref of the stamp and got your man sent off.

Quite happy to see Southend keep on losing (sorry Shrimpers). We are going to be reliant on 2 teams having a nightmare in order for us to stay up.

Going forward we have some decent players - McAleny, Rowe and Dearnley are all more than capable of getting double figures at this level. Unfortunately we’re weak as piss in midfield, have our best defender banished to the youths, a manager who has no idea what his best 11 is and a knobhead of an owner.

You've no idea how this league works. It's not one for Guardiola wannabes who want to impose a 'footballing philosophy'.

You'd better hope your club realises this before you're down in the conference.

Looks like Torquay will be replacing Bolton in the EFL then next season. A local rivalry replacing a tin pot club with a soulless ground. Not bad really.

It's always good to see someone's team being the equivalent of a car crash after giving it the big en' and telling everyone how amazing they would be. I remember a Bradford fan years ago coming on the OVF forum that literally made his own thread where he listed the entire Bradford squad with a note on how fantastic the player was next to each one. He said they would finish top and the only question was by how many points - They finished mid-table that season.

Surprised Bolton are keeping faith with Evatt after their poor start. While he might come good, going on how he did managing Barrow, it doesn’t look likely to happen this season.

We've already established you didn’t pay for our ground to be built, and we aren't skint.

Your trolling was diabolic to start with but repeating yourself because you've ran out of original ideas is a bit of a sad state of affairs.

Have a quick Google and try and come up with something that's both true and that you haven't already rambled on about.
