So the briscoes were on the cusp of accepting a wwe offer but ROH gaxzumped them with a last minute deal that 'blew wwes out of the water'

Hardly seen them wrestle but have heard great things about them. That's probably it for them now

Odd if true... I mean, it looks dangerous and all, but surely they're able to keep it risk free? I can't see how it's more dangerous than the pedigree, for example. Or just a flat out super kick, which sometimes looks pretty brutal when they get it right. Or the brogue kick, or Bryans running knee. They all seem like they carry the risk of head injurys.

utter stupidity. the curb stomp is an awesome finisher, there's danger to any move that you do in the wrestling ring. the issue isn't the move, the issue is with how it is followed up the next day or so & their care & attention when it comes to things like concussions and the like.

i would rather see each wrestler get designated time off each year. not all at the same time, but say give orton a month off in june to rest up & be with his family, then give reigns a month off in july, bryan in august etc. just rotate everywhere. it would be amazing how much good that would do. that month can refresh and revitalise someone mentally and physically.

Looks like he's now using some sort of modified DDT as per Raw.

Will miss the curb stomp, was nice and original.

While it was awesome how Rollins won the title at Wrestlemania, it is getting pretty ridiculous how people seem to only ever enter that world title picture now via money in the bank. I know that people have been moaning about it for years, but I just wanted to point out... the last time somebody won their first ever world heavyweight championship without it being due to cashing in MitB was right at the end of 2009, when Sheamus beat Cena in a table match. Nearly 5 and a half years since we had somebody win their first title through means other than the MitB...!

That would have been like the one good thing if Reigns had walked out of WM with the title...

But other than that, since the MitB concept was first introduced, looking through title history...

I see that there have been only 8 occasions since MitB has been introduced that people have won their first title through not using MitB to do so... Jeff Hardy, Mark Henry, Christian, Ziggler (if you even count his bullshit run that lasted one episode... his first proper run came via, you guessed it, MitB), Khali, Rey Mysterio and Booker T. MitB was introduced at WM21, so that's 8 times in 10 years.

Which is exactly the same amount of champions as we've had via MitB, those people being Edge, Jack Swagger, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Alberto Del Rio, RVD and The Miz.

But basically, I'd love to see a couple more feuds where we get people who have never held the title before get a shot at it. Something like Ambrose or Wyatt feuding for a title... we just don't really get that anymore. We only ever tend to get former champions having matches for the title (which, funnily enough, was exactly what Jesse Ventura said when he set up the battle royal that led to Sheamus getting his match with Cena... the last time somebody did get a proper 1 vs 1 shot at a title and won it after never holding it before).

hate to be like a statto and that, but Christian & Mark Henry both won their first World Heavyweight Titles without MITB after 2009 (Christian won it in a Ladder Match v Del Rio in 2011, Henry won it v Orton in 2011). But i absolutely know what you mean. The reason WWE didn't falter when people like The Rock & Stone Cold left the company was because they were bringing guys like HHH, Batista & Orton into the Main Event. Now that the likes of HHH & Batista are pretty much gone, they haven't brought in those next level main event guys. Guys like Ziggler, Sandow, Ambrose & Harper will just stay in the mid card for years and years. what a waste.

The way WWE handle's its ME stars is a massive reason I've not even attempted them for years, but I think I used to gripe at them complaints you have 3-4 years ago.

well that plus the old chicken heel method of heel champion they ALWAYS seem to go with each and every single time without fail (even though its never got said wrestler over)

Sadly wrestling never seems able to get out of these problems. WWE will always build their budding new stars the same way, while TNA will still constantly push the old-pros with the belts.

my fave title run for maybe the last 9-10 years was actually that short Eric Young one last year, they lump belt on a comedy character to well i'll be honest here try and latch onto the Bryan popularity (He had a beard you know!!) which at the time was ridiculous, but.....because he went from crap comedy character to ME, they built him superbly, a fighting champion willing to defend belt every week vs anyone and trying to prove his worth in the ring.

didn't work ratings wise, but it worked to get Young over who now is an established ME guy, plus it was a refreshing change from the usual.

why cannot WWE gamble on just letting Rollins defend against anyone any week, any place.

While I agree with that, I don't think heels being a bit of a wimp is that bad a thing. Cowardliness is always something that'll bring heat... and even the best, the likes of Austin and The Rock, tend to be chickenshits when heel. This being said, it is pretty cool when you've got a heel who is a monster like Lesnar.

But on the topic of Seth Rollins though... sure, he'll often back out of fights and run away and such, but every once in a while he will actually show some real balls. He was pretty confrontational toward Lesnar oftentimes... sure, he seemed a little intimidated by him, but to be fair any sane human probably should. But he'd still pick and choose his moments where he could and give the man a curb stomp when he could. Seth comes across more of a naive guy with a heel of a sense of entitlement who really believes his own hype and, for the most part, can actually back that up. I think he's been a pretty unique heel in terms of his character. He's a bit more interesting than just being a "chicken heel".

In fact, as I think through the rosters, I don't think that there really are many heels who really come across as a typical "chicken heel"... Wyatt certainly doesn't back down, Sheamus is actively looking to kick everybodies ass and so on. I think you have to have heels back off every now and then, otherwise you'd just get people fighting everywhere without waiting until PPV's. And the old "I'll fight you... but not tonight" is the oldest trick in the book for getting a good heel reaction from the fans.

Off topic, but Dave, have you seen WM31 yet? Or at least read about it? What were your thoughts?

Reread mah post bro, I had them both in the "winning via other means" list :hesk:

No, I read about it and it sounds a pretty bland Mania so didn't have much interest to chase it up, going off reviews it was a nothing PPV until the ME, but the buzz that you lot will have got by what happened I would not due to not really taking much interest so when you remove that part of it all I leaves is a mania with not much for me.

Mind I think I've gone off PPV's thesedays, with TNA not doing them really I havn't watched a PPV for nearly a year now.

What kind of wrestling do you watch now? Is it just TNA or do you manage to watch anything like NXT, or even the indies like ROH or NJPW?

I only watch TNA which has been excellent for a year now so I don't bother with much else for now, even old wrestling I've stopped as I get my fill weekly.

its not that I wouldn't watch the rest to be honest, just I think you can over-kill it watching others, I can see why Wrestling gets stuck in a tough rut with no others growing because I can sort've see why WWE watchers cannot give others time and vice-versa.

I'd like to see ROH and Lutcha Underground, but not had time yet.

NXT I won't watch as I think its bad for wrestling.

nope for reasons said above I'm quite happy with their 2 hour show and don't need much more for now, i'll watch slammy I suppose but that will be about it.

I didn't mean Mania was bad with what I said above, it got decent reviews, just nothing from it sort've stood out for me to sit 3 hours watching and the big hype point you'd only get if a WWE follower really.

I should also say when I think NXT is bad for wrestling I don't mean the quality of the program is bad, just while many think its a good way to bring top indie stars into the biggest wrestling company (A good thing even I agree on that) My view of NXT is it brings them people in to remove the very individuality that makes them good in first place........think WWE could be so much better with a good mixture of WWE made and alternatives mixing in.

He's a bit old school for me so I've never actually seen any of his work, but I see that Verne Gagne has passed away today. I know he was highly regarded during his time for his contributions to pro wrestling and a lot of former wrestlers seem to hold him in high esteem as one of the best ever.

He trained a lot of the 80's and 90's talent pool so can't have been too shoddy

Sorry lads, just seen you all think positively of that fucking vermin c*** Joe Weller. Oaf and Mase, we can never be friends. He's pretty much everything wrong with the world condensed into one human version of the LADbible who blacks up for shit videos, does wrestling stuff for the sheer banter of it all obvs and appeals to the 12 year old market of KSI...cos there's nothing more 12 year old lads like than casual racism and sexism.

I hope one day he trips and stumbles into an industrial furnace. He will never 'win the internet' he'll just lose the faith I have in humanity. Just to make things perfectly clear, he's a vile abhorrent c*** cock whisperer.

I just found something and remembered this from a while back. You may enjoy the sequel (it includes Joe being beaten up by a girl and then somebody awesome telling him to go fuck himself)

I hope it goes well.

In a way I want to try and give it a go as I like to see a boost to wrestling, but its tough at the moment as TNA has delivered me 4 months of shows ranging 7/10 to 10/10 and its turned into for me personally one of the best years of weekly wrestling I've seen.

that as such gives me a desire to watch more, but at same time it makes it tough to watch something else..........i'll see who they have and what direction it may go to.

it may contain some current TNA people, they are now not tied to TNA only like previously.

Its being heavily rumoured that Vince is going blind!

after raw they held a pat Patterson tribute which was presented by Vince, he had to be lead to the ring via spotlight and also had stagehands guide him back out

Also this clip has surfaced from wrestlemania where he sort of stumbles towards Brock lesnar when greeting him

Could be innocent enough but doesn't look good

i went to PCW Showdown in Preston on friday night. Absolutely loved it. Been to one of the free outdoor shows before but this was my first taste of proper English indie wrestling. atmosphere was fantastic. got on the front row too and can I just say how much it elevates the experience. it's a shame that wwe charge £300 for front row tickets, but £15 for PCW was well well worth the money

I keep meaning to get to a show but finances are tight right now, glad you enjoyed it.

When TNA ceases to be later in the year (I'm expecting it sadly) I sort've hope Challenge still back abit of wrestling and maybe try and run a weekly UK show, i'd think someone could plug a gap over here and would hope the rabid UK wrestling fans could get behind it.
