yes - but Tranmere claimed they were doing that against us in the FA Cup - just because they knew they would lose - so said they didn't care/try. If they really didn't care about the FA Cup they won't about the Trophy... And Mellon was the manager for the FA Cup tie not Brabin - so maybe?
Trust me, we REALLY don't care about the FA Trophy. The JPT/Checkatrade/whatever was tinpot enough, this is tinpot on another level.

Chipmunx forgot to mention in the opening post that Woking are the most successful club EVER in this competition.

Got to feel for Barrow fans, they pull off a GIANT KILLING in the FA Cup against us, only to discover we couldn't care less.

Micky Mellon's said something like the next game's the most important, whatever team we put out we'll be trying to win. There have been strong hints this might be Connor Jennings' comeback game. Would have thought even with a few fringe players we'd be able to at least get a replay against Wrecsam. That would presumably take precedence over our rearranged NL game with Lincoln which will finally get played after Forest Green have won the league...

Our manager has come out in the local rag and said that he wants a Wembley visit this season (we've never been). I'm not convinced. We've gone out at the first hurdle too many times and I won't be surprised if Witton win this one.
Think we will beat Witton but lose in the next round against a side in our league if we are drawn away... home games will be key for us..

Just a matter of interest who is holder of the trophy and what are the crowds like.
We won it last time in our promotion year but would rather pull away from bottom of league.

Nobody else is really that bothered - it was a nice win and has helped us get a fair bit of money, and our best-ever chance of making the 4th round of the FA Cup. That win was only about sticking two fingers up at Andy Cook, so it was a good day.
Every club that's gone out, would like to be in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, I'm sure.

Not really. Only struggled to win it in one match because we had a man incorrectly sent off (rescinded). Replay was comfortable despite the scoreline.

Will be good to see Sean Cronin back at Grosvenor Vale. He had a very productive 5 years with us and is still thought of fondly by Stones supporters. Expecting him to have a blinder at the back and to score a penalty too.

No replays for this game I'm afraid! Has to be decided on the day.

in fairness yeh, i would like us to be in the 3rd round of the fa cup as it's been a while, but even if we'd beaten barrow, we would have just got the customary peterborough away and 0-5 defeat next round anyway. it just saved messing about.

I'd assumed the pattern would follow the preliminary rounds where they did have replays.
there always have been in the past and as far as I know it's not changed recently.
Just checked the FA site and there are still replays (unless the 2 teams agree and put it in writing to the FA that there will be extra time and penalties at the end of the 1st game (if needed) - that has to be done within 7 days of the draw taking place).
perhaps Pablosammy just meant he doesn't want Tranmere to have to play any more matches than needed

That's exactly what we've done - Wrexham and ourselves have already told the FA it will be decided on the night, and we don't want a replay. I find it strange that we're allowed to dictate the rules like that, but that's what's happened.

I think the rule was mainly brought in because of travelling in early qualifying rounds where a club's attendance might not pay for travelling costs and match officials fees. In our case we wouldn't mind a replay as we don't have a December home game until boxing day

Agree a strange rule.

If our NL game with Lincoln is to be re-scheduled due to their FA Trophy game with Shaw Lane taking precedence presumably both sides would have to agree a new date rather than simply moving to the following Tuesday?

they won't reschedule it for a weekend - other than the one the next round is due on (14th Jan) - if the Shaw lane issue is sorted this week there is an outside change it will be midweek next week, but more likely the midweek after you and Lincoln play

From a Wrexham prospective the FA Trophy must represent something worth going for as you clearly arent going up and you will have enough to comfortably finish mid table?

i can honestly say the excitement for this competition is nul on Red Passion - we are more concerned about when we can farm the next reject out on loan so we can get someone in at the moment

We haven't played in this since we won it, and as Halifax have bowed out already maybe we should be considered defending champions...

In this terrible season we really need a win from absolutely anywhere to get confidence back up close to ground level, so I hope we'll field a strong lineup. However, Worcester have done what we couldn't manage to do and beat Curzon Ashton to get here...

1-0 to us and it needs to be the start of a dramatic turn around in fortunes, just to avoid this being the worst season in our history.
