This truly belongs in the Joke category. :brill:

Councils put construction jobs out to tender all the time, in my experience they will pick the company with the best track record, even if their price is a little higher. There is no reason this can't be applied to the railway service, they could be contracted regionally. Companies can't get away with ripping people off because they won't be re-hired.

The privatised railway companies have done so for 20 years. The bus companies for longer. Government has not only overseen this but colluded in it. It's shameful and has led us to having under-invested, expensive public transport and a extremely uncompetitive marketplace.

You're obviously not interested on a discussion about how it could change for the better, you just want to whinge about the way it is now.

When the government are in control of distributing contracts, which expire, more companies will emerge as there is no longer a monopoly able to exploit. Like other areas where the government issue contracts to the private sector they pick the companies with the best track record, no pun intended.

Peeling hard boiled eggs.

Sometimes, from the same box, you'll get some that you can peel the shell off with no problem, a piece of piss. Yet with others the shells fragment and really piss you off. There must be some kind of conditions you can expose them to so they peel easier.

Only finding out today that my local cinema was showing all three Back to the Futures consecutively, yesterday. It'll probably be another ten years before I can watch them on the big screen.

After they're cooked, put them in cold water for 5 minutes before you peel them.

The size of the mugs you get with Easter eggs.

I've got a massive KitKat one from a few years ago. They seem to be getting smaller and smaller every year now.

At least he's getting out there and lucky for him can afford to. Rather him than the people that don't try to get a job or cant hold one down due to not turning up on the first day but still complain about foreigners stealing their jobs!

That's the point, he's turned down a few jobs because he thinks they are beneath him. He's more than capable of getting a job here.

People who say '" have to pay £? for..."

Sometimes it's for Sky, Concert tickets, holidays etc

No, you don't HAVE to pay. it's not a necessity. It's a luxury.

I just roll the egg around on a chopping board for a minute or so - the shell does fragment but it's easy enough to remove.

Just like Louis Cyphre. Always thought there was something strange about you. ;)

I used to think the same thing about chocolate bars, that they were bigger when I was a kid., but them I realised that it wasn't that they were getting smaller but that my hands were getting bigger.

My hands are about the size of frying pans now and when I hold a king size mars bar in my hand it looks like a fun size mars bar.

The BBC trying to make us believe women's football is worth watching just because they paid money for their games, it's awful.

I quite like it. I don't like Match of the Day much though. Each to their own.

I've seen a few of the league games and they didn't look great, but for me I was far more enthusiastic about the England women in their recent World Cup than I am about the men's England team.
