I hate my Doctors Surgery. Opens at 8, shuts 12-2 for lunch, opens at 2 until 6. Half day on a Thursday and Saturday. Closed Sunday. Usually get told to go to the walk in centre of it's not urgent where you get to see a senior nurse, who, whilst I respect their opinions and judgement, is not a doctor.

I feel very sorry for GPs. It's a shit job and the pay isn't great at times, plus indemnity fees are in the thousands a year. The 7 day opening initiative is a pile of horseshit too. Sounds great but the government aren't paying for it. There's far too many people who use the GP service for minor things who clog the system up. Opening longer just gives them more opportunity to do it.

I think being a teacher and being a GP are two jobs I'd never really want to do.

I don't like giving reasons to an unqualified receptionist who makes the call as to whether you get an appointment or not. They're okay when it is something wrong with a child, though. They usually try to get you in asap.

I just want them to open longer in the evenings and on a Saturday/Sunday. I'm fully behind them and junior doctors fighting for better working conditions but come on, working a couple of weekends a month isn't the end of the world. They should also be paid more and more should be done to make it a profession that's easier to get into from a working class background.

I would also like to point out that I don't go to the doctors for minor ailments. I've got a bug at the moment and I will sick it up, shit it out and drown it in OJ. I take my children because a temperature that won't go and dehydration could kill them.

If the existing government didn't help so many corporations to avoid £80billion in taxes the NHS could be even better.

FWIW my doctor's surgery is great. Appointments until late every weeknight, an online system whereby some appointments for the next day are kept free until 6pm the evening before, really friendly doctors and nurses. Brilliant value for money from my taxes.

However, can I find an NHS dentist? Can I fuck. It's a nightmare.

I've never had a problem getting a doctors appointment either, so long as you call them before 10am they can always fit you in the same day.
