This idea of personalising bad weather. Storm Desmond is wreaking havoc throughout the UK apparently. Yeah, fuck off Desmond.

Can you think of a better way to easily identify a storm? The fourth storm of 2015 probably won't have quite the same meaning.

The rest of the world has done it for years and it's proven to be pretty effective. It's a good idea, I don't see how you can possibly have an issue with it.

Nigel is a brilliant name for a storm. Nigel. Nigel!

Storm Nataraja woulda been more foreboding.

I was just disappointed L is going to be Lawrence tbh. But having just Googled Storm Lee, I see it's already a thing, so fair enough.

ffs, what even is this

It's to allow media organisations to better warn people of coming dangerous storms.

====

Derrick Ryall, head of the public weather service at the Met Office, said at the time the name search was announced in September: "We have seen how naming storms elsewhere in the world raises awareness of severe weather before it strikes.

"We hope that naming storms in line with the official severe weather warnings here will do the same and ensure everyone can keep themselves, their property and businesses safe and protected at times of severe weather."

====

Seems fair enough.

Though this study is interesting:

I'm getting the impression Subway is taking over my town. I went into Spar today and they've installed one in there. That's on top of the one the put in the garage down the road, which is around the corner from another independent Subway. I did a little research and worked out there are 4 Subways within a mile radius of where I live. I don't like it.

Are they franchised? Not so bad if so, like? Folk doing a bit of business, making some dough.

There are three 7/11s in about 200 metres on my street here (Chiang Mai). No need really. :lol:

Been in Starbucks in Shanghai where you can look out the window and see another across the road too. Not a fan. Was kinda being paid to be there though, so, every cloud and that.

Franchises always pop up and spread like fire in Thailand. 7/11, Family Mart, Subway. Burger King and MacDonalds weren't too bad though.

Which escort service you working at Stags? I've always wondered whether it really was mostly the fat and old women that use the service?

And does the missus know?

Just did a quick google, by DUCKS you mean the foreign students?

On the flip side, you get to live in a beautiful part of the world, are well travelled (something at 25 years old, I'm still not) and get to occasionally eat out at good places where the chilli beef is HOME MADE with that all important (imvho) Chinese missus. :thumbs:

I have confidence that if Stags puts his mind to it, he can become the prostitute. Reach for the stars, mate.

The RER. It's barely two years old and it's falling apart. Seedy dark platforms that smell like Portman Road, entire 500m access corridors lit by a single 20W bulb, broken tarmac, like a war-zone with Gucci adverts.
Especially Chatelet-Les-Halles which has to be the utter worst station on the planet. It's busier than the Primark in Mumbai and ranker than Portman Road and not a single escalator has ever worked and there's wiring hanging down. Up above it, the whole Forum Les Halles is a rat-infested reception hall for Hell.

Failing to bleed the brakes on my missus' Golf on a freezing cold driveway because the caliper that VW relieved me of £200 for is defective. VW quality control. c***.
