Finding out that Daniel Pelka's 'mother' died in her prison cell yesterday.

Now, I'm not one to grab my torch and pitch fork and declare that she should have been hanged or made to starve like Daniel did but the story of what she and her disgusting partner did to that boy I found very harrowing to read and I remember getting quite upset when I first read about it.

As a parent myself I just don't understand how anybody could do such vile things to their own child or any child for that matter.

If there's a hell then I hope she's there.

He's not implying that people without kids can't empathise or understand. He's saying for example that when a child is murdered other parents might think ' I've got a kid, it could have been my kid'. I don't think Dave was trying to diminish how people without kids feel about these things.

Surely they can't all be closed? We usually go to Brook's for convenience but Heath's was good as well. It's a once or twice a year treat for me. As a connoisseur, do you have any recommendations?

I only ever go to Brook's and they usually close for a couple of weeks around now. As I don't live in Dagenham, and haven't done for about 10 years now, my local knowledge is pretty poor. I think I know where Heath's is though.

Anyway, anything with parsley in it is the devils food.

Gravy and peas are the only things you should be having with a pie and mash.

Don't knock it till you've tried it. Pie, peas and gravy, even better pudding, peas and gravy (no mash), probably have the edge but these southern softies convinced me that liquor counts as salad (and the pies are tiny) - so it's my healthy eating option.
