Proper way to prepare jacket spuds. Eight minutes in the microwave, put it onto a stoneware cooking tray, pour over garlic-infused olive oil and a grind of salt and pepper. Top of the oven for 12 minutes. Fluffy inside, crunchy outside.

Considering the opprobrium you laid upon those who like to make a quick cup of tea or save time by having their car washed or house cleaned, I'm surprised (and a little disappointed) you'd advocate the use of a microwave in the process of making jacket potatoes. An obviously inferior process to making them entirely in the oven.

That's what you'd think (and was what I thought previously). But I have found the first stage being done in the microwave makes for a superior jacket potato. It's not so dry on the inside, you see.

The other day I wrapped a couple of big jacket potatoes in tin foil and stuck them in the fire. *IN* the fire!!! Turned them every now and again (being careful not to leave them standing on the hot coals!), took them out after a couple of hours (handle with care - very hot!) and I can honestly say they were very good potatoes. Bit burned in some places but it worked a treat. We don't have a microwave but in the bad old days, I used to put them in for 8 minutes prior to the oven. Speeds up the process but I never got the thick, tough jacket I was really after.

Oh, and what did I put on those fire-cooked potatoes? Butter and cheese.

Prefer sweet potatoes to normal spuds these days, though Maris Piper's are fab now and again.

I might not have mentioned this on here before but I actually live on a boat. It's not an open fire anyway, just a wood/coal burner.

no it better conveys the excitement and the need you felt to get it out into the world

It goes to prove (if further proof were needed) that there's often a fine line between being the first to a joke, and being the first to a joke with correct grammer and spelling.

I made two mistakes in my posting. My first error was that I didn't read over my post. If I had I would surely have noticed I'd erroneously added an apostrophe to 'were'. My second mistake was to post on my phone. In the post-mortem of this terrible post I can only imagine that it was the autocorrect that added the apostrophe.

If the above humilation weren't enough, I must admit to having spent a few moments mulling over the option of sticking by my guns and claiming I had meant to post 'we're'. That I had really meant to post: "We are they life jacket potatoes?"

We are they life jacket potatoes?

We are.

Baker Street is the only song I can think of containing saxophone which didn't sound shit. Horrible, tacky sounding instrument.

Your Latest Trick (well, the live version anyway).

They're the only two songs I think of off the top of my head.

Do you ever feel like most of the people on this forum are so fucking stupid, so parochially benighted, so constricted by a grey horizon that reaches about 2 feet from the end of their own nose, that they just shouldn't be allowed to have any opinions at all?

Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd sounded good but it was mostly played softly.

My brother hooked me up with one of these badboys yesterday

sc-eleaf-ijust2-7.jpg

He loves his sheesha so him and his pals ordered a load of them, upto 80watts and a 2600mah battery. Haven't tried the nicotine liquids yet, but the non nicotine one in there atm has really good flavour and produces alot of thick smoke, like can't-see-my-face-when-I-blow-out thick.

Nicotine juice tastes awful with high wattage imo. I'm using 18mg/ml juice @ 9watts atm, perfect for me. My mate sent me some Unicorn Milk the other day, give it a try it tastes fucking amazing.
